2025 FF Original Discussion thread

There shouldn’t need a pin.
It comes up as you’ve joined, so you’re all good.

I’ve logged in on the website and can see the leagues.

But the app is only showing me public leagues even though I can see my “Saracens 1” team name.

You’ve joined the comp from my end.

Just check that you’ve downloaded the new AFL Draft Fantasy app.
You should see something like the below image.

Ahh, I just used the app already on my phone. I’ll update it and see.

Just highlighting the trade rules for any discussion points.

Players traded in don’t need to be made as keepers.
For the upcoming trade period, you can trade picks from the next two drafts.

One thing that is missed is what happens with surplus and deficit picks after the trade period.
Previously, you’d only have 10 draft picks regardless of whether you had surplus picks or not. This is no longer the case.
If you have surplus picks after this trade period ends, you will keep them during the draft and it is up to the coach to either trade them away or lose them.
If you have less than 10 picks in the draft, you will not get extra picks at the end of the draft to fill your list. You will need to trade or utilise free agency to fill your roster

AFL Fantasy should allow this to happen (fingers crossed and touching wood), but if it doesn’t, we’ll do as much as we can on that platform and fill in the gaps on Blitz.

To all ,

Last years AFL Fantasy App is not the one to use. That was where I went wrong.

The App you need is AFL Fantasy Draft.

Cheers. that worked

I don’t like the ability for trading two drafts in advance. A retiring coach may go all in and give up all the future top picks leaving a new coach with a retirement village and no picks.

I don’t really like it also…not sure it was needed either. If they want to do that, they should pay next years entry fee as a minimum too but still leaves the potential to basically ruin a club for 5 years. No one wants to takeover a team that has no hope and no decent players.

Agreed. That’s a tough sell imo.

Good point.
We could introduce a rule that you have to hold a pick in every round at any given time.
So if you trade away all your 2025 round 1 picks, you cannot trade your 2026 one.

I’d prefer to steer clear from Admin stepping in and approving / rejecting trades. Once both coaches agree on a trade, it shouldn’t be reversed.

Happy to revert to previous draft pick trade rules, see if we can refine it further during the season and see if it can get through into next year’s rules for further discussion.

I’ll update the original post later this afternoon, but we’ll revert to last year’s rules there will only be trading of the picks in the upcoming draft you hold.
Also, the bye scores will be as per last year.

I’m also yet to hear back from @Stoops and @topdon, so I may be on the hunt for more coaches if I don’t get a response from them in the next day or so.

Edit: Original post updated.

Looks like there’ll be 3 empty coaching positions.
Essington FC, topdon’s donkeys and Excitement Machines.

We have @The_Melkman joining us as a new coach. He will have first choice which team he wants to take over.
We also have one of windy’s friend (yet to join Blitz) joining us as well. He will have the second choice.
I’m yet to secure a third coach, so if you know anyone who may be interested, please get in touch with me via PM.

I’ve joined the league as far as I can tell?

Just checked, you’re in.
Looks like we have a full list of coaches for the competition.

I’ll sort out the two spare spots tomorrow.

Is @topdon out? If you haven’t heard from him I can contact him.

I had him on whatsapp and he said he wants to bow out this year. His priorities are work, watching Essendon play on tv and making the opening round games against the Suns.

Thanks Blummers and crew. Keen to get involved in this one.

Being part of bbfl2 since the start has comfortably been my favourite fantasy format over the years, so looking forward to being able to guide a 2nd team to consistent finals appearances while never actually winning anything

I’m not expecting trade period to be super busy this early, but trade period is open.

@saladin can you open the trade thread?

Essington FC or topdon’s topdonkeys won’t join the trade period until the teams are formally assigned to the coaches.

Trade period ends Sunday March 2 at 6pm AEST.
Keepers is shortly after that at 9pm. It’s unclear what to do on AFL Fantasy, but I think all you need to do is cut your squad down to 20.

There is a note on the website & app that the system will automatically cut some players to trim down to 20. I’m not sure how they’ll choose the players to keep though. For this reason, I’ve set the keeper deadline on AFL fantasy as 11:59pm. That way, there’s a 3 hour buffer for any mishaps and to remind coaches to reduce their lists.

OntheRise is awaiting his Blitz account to be approved by Admin, and he’s preferred to take on Essington FC. I’ll wait until he’s fully on Blitz to formally confirm and then I’ll assign the team to him on AFL Fantasy.
@The_Melkman opted to pass his first choice of teams and looks like he’ll take over topdon’s topdonkeys. I’ll assign the team to him on AFL Fantasy once OntheRise is sorted.

Cheers and best of luck to all coaches during the trade period.
I’ll try and keep the draft thread up to date by the next morning after trades are confirmed.
