Well…
It’s not like AFL Fantasy to throw in a curve ball…
They have gone and adjusted the AFL Fantasy Scores. They have included emergency scores to take the place of any GC and GWS players in the 18.
And to top it all off, it looks like they are trying to identify the emergencies that are included in the score as well as GC and GWS players showing up as DNP. But, they decided to only do this on 1 of the 18 teams for some obscure reason.
Below are the round 2 prelim scores (version 2.0)…

A few notes of the differences between this one the previous preliminary version…
@Split_Infinity Sunbury Seagulls is a weird result. I cannot for the life of me work out what the 1172 is calculating because the scores in the 18 amount to 1175. Also, it looks like I left out Briggs bye score from the previous preliminary count. I’ll have to check this tomorrow.
@JBaller92 Hotdons previous prelim score may have been an error on my part. I didn’t include Holman. But for some reason they’ve gone and added Sid Draper into the score even though every other midfielder played. Farked if I know what AFL Fantasy are doing here.
@Awesome_Scotty Flanders is another weird result. I cannot for the life of me work out what the 954 is calculating because the scores in the 18 amount to 1104. I’ll have to check this tomorrow.
I’ll check it again around lunchtime tomorrow. Worst case, I’ll enter the scores as per this version so that RFAs can be processed and try and clean it up once AFL Fantasy have their ■■■■ in order.
Don’t apologies for using the system to its full extent. We didn’t have these problems last season.
AFL Fantasy have stuffed up here.
I was questioning whether I made errors, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the three teams with different scores are those that adjusted their teams after round 2 closed and somehow when they adjusted their rules and applied emergency scores in place of GWS & GC players, they somehow applied it to the changed teams rather than the round 2 locked teams.
When I update the scores on AFL Fantasy, I’ll use the first prelim scores that I did and trust that I got it right then. It should at least allow for RFAs to go through.
I’ll then check it again closer to the beginning of round 3 and see if they’ve fixed this issue.
They’ve also screwed up the RFA order. There are 36 spots on the RFA order with every team having two spots and it isn’t even in reverse ladder order. It was like this early yesterday when I checked, but I checked it again at around 7pm and it was fixed. Then last night, it was back to the previous way.
I have contacted AFL Fantasy tech support and been pretty critical of this rounds stuff up on their end. I doubt they respond before lunchtime. I suspect other leagues have found similar problems. We’ll see what they say though.
I’m assuming as per last week, the teams selected didn’t get locked and any team changes after the round ended (for the next round) are showing up in the previous round fixture. So I cannot trust the 18 shown is correct and emergencies aren’t clearly indicated.
I quickly scanned the fixtures late last night and all emergencies were clearly identified, so I was hoping this was fixed.
It’s likely this will be fixed tomorrow sometime like it was last week.
It’s just very tough to trust this platform.
Regardless, for this year, we’ll stick with the bye rules as they are. But there’s a good chance that we’ll have to switch to another bye round score system that’s more automated regardless of which platform we use.
I’m in a SuperCoach draft league and there are no such issues whatsoever like this. It works perfectly as expected. A friend is using the Keeper platform and hasn’t noticed these issues, but they use an automatic scoring system so probably just trust that it’s calculating the right set of numbers and don’t necessary check them.
@Blummers32 have you worked out a way to download the data from AFL fantasy to check the scores? I haven’t and it’s a killer. UF was great in how you could easily extract the data which made me look good! This is a nightmare for data extraction.
Just to be clear, you don’t need to list your emergencies here.
And you can still change them through the weekend if you wish to.
My gripe has not been with coaches. I’m fine for you all to keep going the way you’re going. My gripe has been that the team selected on the AFL Fantasy fixture page aren’t trustworthy. Which makes it difficult when I was hoping to hand one of these bye rounds to @Windy_Dill, @JBaller92 or @Split_Infinity to do on their own.
I hope they’ve fixed the issues, but worst case, I should be able to see who got selected on the Monday late afternoon and get the results out by late Monday night.
Not sure how I go this round. I screwed up and delisted Reville accidentally yesterday. He wouldn’t have made my team, but I ended up grabbing Stocker who I won’t be using this round.
I’m already using my bench loophole to get Lord’s score. Glad he came close to matching Daicos’ score. Just need Walter to score well and maybe I can remove Banfield from the field to get his score to count.
I don’t mean to be a ■■■■.
But can we simplify this?
Is it their last game?
Is it their last three game average?
Is it their round zero?
I feel like we’re making this Way harder than it needs to be.
Byes are a thing and will continue to be a thing.
Can we just…get…a ruling?
So we know?
Edit: I want to post my best score.
And as a bottom eight team, that’s not about winning.
I just want to post my best score. And I feel like right now I have No Idea how to do that.
I feel like I posted this about a month ago. So it’s weird to get the first comment about it three days into the last of the early bye rounds.
Hawthorn bye players get their opening round score.
For Essendon players they are getting their last 4 games average that they played. Their game was postponed to a time that no other DT games aren’t even being played. The player’s last 4 average matches what Dunlop did previously so we thought we’d stick to something more common.
We did the last 4 games average solely because of the postponed games. We could have gone with averages like we do during mid year, but that seemed unfair to do that to Gold Coast players who had their game postponed and their bye averages would come off 1 game. It made sense to go to 4 games.
Mid year, byes are the average for the season. Far easier to deal with.
This all would have gone fine just like last season if there wasn’t a pesky cyclone called Alfred during the opening round.
Chances are Opening Round won’t be a thing next season. From what I can tell, it’ll be a round where every team plays. So the early bye rounds may not be required.
Whilst there will be byes mid year, there is a good chance the season average score gets scrapped all together and coaches will just play with their highest 16 (guesstimate) scoring players on the field for those rounds like SuperCoach and DT do. Basically, unless the platform we are using does it automatically, we are unlikely to actually fill the gap. Which is pretty much what Dunlop did.
Bye rounds is pretty much the last manual thing left to do during the season. And so far this year’s experience has been a pain in the ass. Not because of coaches, but AFL Fantasy itself.
There was a reason why we went from average of last 4 to average of season for mid year rounds.
Why was it never raised then?
Any stage in the last ten years would have been perfectly fine.
I’ll end it there.
I’m assuming if you got last rounds score you benefit somehow more than any other metric.
