I get your frustration.
The easiest for everyone is to let the system sort out the scores. Our main aim has been to have less stuff done manually away from the platform.
We would have had the same rule for every bye it wasn’t for Cyclone Alfred during opening round.
We pivoted to suit. And only adjusted the rules for the teams that it affected.
You’ve got Battle and Zach Reid. Only two players.
Zach Reid’s bye score was posted in the notifications PM (It was 54).
All it takes is to click on Battles name and go to match stats.
Why isn’t it last week’s game?
Why are we going back to opening round?
Why are we not just checking the scores from last week and going, well…That One.
When opening round was introduced (last year), it was players scores that weren’t going towards any teams score. So it made sense to use that score during their bye round.
It has not been done before. In any of the bye rounds from the last ten years.
We did not feel the need to introduce something that coaches have not familiar with in the past in this instance.
You didn’t have to do math. I posted the bye scores in the notification PM. I even told you what Reid’s score was.
You’ve had your say. It’s been noted. We won’t be changing the rules mid round.
There’s a good chance bye round scoring won’t be a thing for this competition next year.
You’re being a bit of a dik about this TBH. The reasoning behind these decisions have been spelt out to you, and the information is all there for you to make an informed decision on team selection.
You don’t have to agree. You also don’t have to be so obtuse about it.
You can call me a ■■■■.
I’m not having a go at Blummers.
I’m just saying opening round vs four game average is arbitrary and without any basis and complicated and confusing and stupid.
You feel free to disagree, although I honestly don’t see how anyone can.
Edit: and apart from all that, needlessly difficult for the commish!
Edit: edit: to make it even More silly…Essendon and Hawthorn have actually already played each other this season.
