Its all about HVH pre Champs. Not much can change really for the moment with half the field away playing APS.

This going to be a very interesting champ series for us in particular.
You’d hope another 2-3 skyrocket up for stakes on top 5 that will give us some options.
I want HVH based on his attributes but watching highlights of Butler if he has a huge championship series is going to throw a spanner in the works. We could really use an X factor player like that and the good ones tend to be at the pointy end.
Additionally with a litany of picks from 18-23 coming our way it wil be interesting to see how this draft depth is rated come end of champs.

Should have signed Draper on a big 1 year deal to keep him and make him a RFA perfect for this situation
Just take HVH if we have pick 1 imo.
Mates with Caddy and more than deserving of going at that spot.
We’ll also have a number of other high picks to address other needs on the list.
If we can turn Merrett and one of our other picks into Arki Butler that would be massive for the rebuild.

We might be able to package up a few of them to get into the top 10, if it stays an even draft pool across the first round we might have some takers.
But if we do miss Butler, this is a good draft for small forward half players who will likely be available at those picks. Neocleous, El Souki, Patterson, Elliot all have AFL qualities and there are always a few more of these types that put themselves up in the back half of the season.

Do we know for certain that the new draft matching rule will have a negative effect on packaging picks?
Regarding Twomeys thoughts on our potential picks this year 2, 16, 19, 20, 21, 25
Could a club still be interested in taking say 19, 20, 21 (2274 points) for pick 4 (1962 points)?
I think it would be great for us to take a few bites of the top 5 talent

You’re limited to matching with two picks now. It’s possible things might just line up so it’s useful for a team to split a pick because of where a bid comes and what their picks are, but generally speaking that kind of split where you drop way down the order isn’t worth it for a matching team any more.
