#21 Archie Roberts - thru 2026

I think it’s quite funny how many HBF who could turn into midfield types we’ve drafted when we are screaming out for some HBF dare kicking over lap run skills from an actual HBF

Oh and Martin isnt and never should be played as HBF

Personally i think he replaces cox, and could have weeks ago.

I don’t think anyone other than perhaps Hobbs (rested for the final quarter) will come in from the VFL this week anyway, given it’d be a 5 day break for them.

They could have left a tall out brought hind into the side and had Robert’s as sub and that would have been a better result then what we were given

Why would you do that? They are both young players who we are trying to get to AFL standard.
If anything, it would be Roberts for Hepp or Hind, surely?

Because i dont think playing a 200cm player on the wing is a good idea and if you are going to, you should be a aerial presence like jones has proven to be in a few weeks

We’re round 18 into the season. Not round 5. We should reward good form, and not reward poor form. Roberts has been solid to pretty good on a wing all year

Not sure if anyone has looked at Cox’s stats. He has only had 20 possessions or more 2 times in 49 games and more than 15 possessions 10 times.

Caleb Windsor in his first year on a wing had 20 possessions or more 2 times in 17 games and more than 15 possessions 9 times.

They were both top 10 picks.

You would expect some arial dominance for a player of 200cm, but we don’t even get that. What is the point?

There is none. Its a stupid experiment that does not work. He is not a winger

The problem is that he is not an anything!

Yep

Ok, so what would you do with Cox?

He’s a Blicavs (type Mr Fix It)
It will take him 4 years to get to the finished product.

Our supporter base doesn’t have anywhere near the patience to see it thru though.
Especially with our Top 10 picks.

i’d drop peter to put cox forward for the rest of the season

I get the whole Blicavs comparison

But did he start as a swingman or did they leave him in a spot to actually develop and get an understanding of AFL then make him a hole plugger or did the Cats just throw him in the deep end?

Do we need that type of player? Other than Geelong, does anyone else have that type of player?

Play him in the VFL as a second ruck/forward

blicavz was also a cost nothing recruit, cox is a top 10 pick, waiting 8 years for someone (top 10 pick) to become useful is having a lend

He can’t mark the ball. Not sure he’s a forward.

hes a bizarrely good pack mark in the forward line

I was going to say until he is delisted or traded but I thought I’d be nice
