If I’m Heppell, I think ‘■■■■ it I’m done’, no point fluffing around with this ■■■■ show for another season.
And there’s clearly going to be a leadership wipeout anyway.
Go to Gold Coast and soak up the sun for a year or go to Geelong or Melbourne and actually play a winning final next year.

If Rutten goes out then so does Heppell. His leadership has been an abject failure. He is a symptom of all this. Get rid of the cause and make sure you get rid of all the symptoms.

You don’t remember him going at Paridh for about a minute, after Parish had potted one of the younger half backs?
I will say one thing, I legitimately feel for him that there’s barely been a season in his career where it hasn’t felt like the joint was gonna implode.
I reckon it would take a strong person to not have it almost completely sap the enjoyment out of your experience. I do wish he got to at least enjoy some form of success and didn’t have to deal with the blow torch being constantly applied to his club. Same goes with Hurls.
Literally the highlight of his career in an on field sense will be a rare ANZAC day win or a stirring interstate home and away victory. It’s rough.

The coach chooses his captain always. None of this player voting malarky. If Hepp stays then its on the proviso our coach whoever it is appoints his own captain.

Clako will require certain things to happen in order to accept our offer.
Heppells name would be too, or second top, of that list.
In a hilarious twist of fate I can see us getting clako, then north out of spite offer Hepp a three year big money gig to say we stole their captain as retribution.
And we get a end of first round pick for it.
