#22 Irving ‘MO22IE’ Mosquito

I’d actually like for him to take the game on a bit more when he gets it. He seems to be playing a bit safe, but that’s not what Mozzies are built for!

He’s kicked a few behinds. I think all were fairly gettable and the one in the last against the eagles was a must kick.

But that’s being harsh on the young kid.

I agree he looks to have great foot skills.

Really nice passage of play this culminating in a mark and point to Mo22ie.

Nice centring kick to the corridor by Parish, then quick transitions by foot from Walla and Merrett.

The most pleasing aspect of this play for me though is Mossie going back with the flight under pressure from the best defender in the game and sticking the mark with one grab. It may look simple but thats a terrific mark for a little guy.

That’s a cracker kick from merret

The Parish one was equally good I thought. Less margin for error.

Could have been a 50 to Merrett

Will be anything.

I thought the Umpire called play on, eagles player was allowed to enter the “protected zone”

Worth pointing out who Mozzie out marked in that contest.

Not vague at all :joy:

Interesting that after zac marked, not 1 but 2 Cokers ran into the protect zone…no 50 mtrs, which was a certain goal IMO…Mozzie misses instead.

Not 1…2, and you just know the other way around we would have been marched to the square quick smart. These double standard decisions/non-decisions trigger me big time.

Umpires there and just waives play on.

Roles reversed that is 50 for sure.

One of them literally even tries to smother it!! Was laughable that wasn’t 50.

The more you look at it the more ridiculous it is. The Eagles moved into the protected zone well after the mark on both sides of Merrett.

The Eagles players are the protected zone.

Sometimes I look at the gallery from training photos.
And from the side, his frame and shoulders look very capable of putting on considerable size.

Bit of Byron Pickett mixed with Rioli?

Not asking for much am I?

Agree 100% on the 50m. It’s just a stupid, stupid rule, made even more stupid when they apply it about once in every 15 times it happens.
But, getting back to the play itself and the sequence of kicks, it sums us up in a nutshell.
Three consecutive very good kicks to a player’s advantage, the first one a high risk kick that was well executed (was that one Parish?). The next two are by Tippa and Merrett, two of our very few good kicks.
Our major problem, IMO, is that we are reluctant to attempt the high risk kick, and when we do attempt it, the skill level isn’t there and we turn it over.
The good teams kick the ball like that much more often than we do. We are about to get a good look at it with Geelong.

Looked like a McGovern.

Was a McGovern.
Out marked by a mosquito.

Nothing mentioned on the commentary at the time, obviously doesn’t suit the narrative.
Nor, more surprisingly on here.
