#22 Irving ‘MO22IE’ Mosquito

Every player who is on the fringe should be treated the same way as Irv has imo.

Keep them honest and make them work hard to earn new contract.

We’ve been too generous to some of the younger players who have shown glimpses and then been rewarded with 2 or 3-year contracts and that is the only reason people should be annoyed at Moz’s 1-year* deal

should’ve done it.

Not sure if it’s been discussed already but how much would Mozzies contract be worth?

Given he was OOC and can’t play this year, he should only be offered the minimum $$. Then given he may never rehab well enough to play AFL again, or maybe only a handful of games in 2022, I’d say the club could only offer him the minimum $$ for a 2nd year anyway.
But if he rehabs really well then maybe next December we can offer him 2 years on decent dollars. Or another club can.
Sounds like this 1 year contract is good for Mozzie.

What is with people wanting Mozzie to get back for finals, kick 4 goals a game and win the Norm Smith, then sign with FC?

Should have shown him the door.

Have you got any logical reason for this?

Not directing this at you EB, but thought I’d take the opportunity to note the following. We are “the Club”. It’s not some separate entity over which we have no control. We, the members, have full control of the Essendon Football Club and we are 100% responsible for its actions, its success and its failure.

The AFL would disagree with the above post.

Samwoods the AFL has a degree of influence but, aside from the expansion clubs, that influence is a constant. The differentiation between clubs is 100% in the hands of the clubs themselves. And we are the Essendon footy club.

“Dah do do dooo!”

A mate of mine saw Mozzie out and about. Apparently he has put on a large amount of weight around the tummy…

I hope he takes this year of rehab seriously.

If true he won’t last very long

Dodos fist pump on draft night will show that he just wanted to get one up on Hawks if he’s a bust

Yeah who knows what the plan is but when the rehab for his knee reaches the point of doing serious kms again it’s not going to be much fun.

Or we might have it all wrong and he might come back as an old fashioned inside 50 wrecking ball to just knock blokes over in our forward line.

We all need more of that smile. I hope he works out long term for us.

I saw the video earlier but cbf’d finding this thread.

for someone who barely got another years extension to his contract, the question a few raised at the time would be if he could show enough in his work ethic to get another contract at this years end, due to the fact he’d barely play a game.

I can’t see him getting one if he’s put on this much weight, which shows he isn’t taking rehab seriously.

Unless something seriously changes can’t see him being at the club next year, and maybe he knows it.

he’s badly overweight for a professional athlete

really disappointing

I bluddy love this kid and was gutted when he hurt his knee last year. That said, it’s truly disappointing to see the way he’s packed on the kegs/handled his rehab.

C’mon, Mozzie! Pull your finger out.

We’re all cheering for you to succeed but you gotta start taking this stuff seriously.

For a guy who is on a one year deal hoping to get another contract… that picture of him is very disappointing to see-Terrible batting stance!!!

also he looks fat around the stomach

Sheesh. He’s done for.

It’s no coincidence that we offered him just the one year and he was the last bloke re-signed. I think that after the ACL the club felt obliged to give him an extension, because we would’ve looked like a pack of ■■■■■ if we delisted someone after a knee reco. But you can see why. He’s in disgraceful shape. There are surely ways you can rehab from an ACL without putting on a good 5-6 kgs around the midriff. It’s embarrassing from a club perspective. Pity because he’s clearly got a fair bit of natural ability.
