#22 Irving ‘MO22IE’ Mosquito

Last I checked, it was February 2021. He’s got until February 2022 to be in shape. Give the kid a break. The club knows what they and he are doing in regards to his rehab and fitness.
Such an over reaction by many on here as usual.
If he looks like Dean Rioli in 12 months, THEN we have a problem!

actually he has around til sep/oct 2021 not just to “be in shape” but to show you are willing to work your ■■■■ off and do all the hard stuff while you’re rehabbing cos you don’t have game performance to show your worth, seeing that’s when list lodgement dates occur

This is now the second time he’s come back over weight after a long injury lay off, so it’s not just an “oh give the kid a break” it’s a pattern that when he is not fully training at a high level, the wheels come of dramatically.

It won’t matter what he looks like in 12 months, he won’t be on the list. unless you actually want them keeping around someone who continually coasts along when they think they have a right too, who doesn’t do everything in their power to become a professional athlete, which is a fair chunk of their job requirement.

Yeah. I’d consider terminating his contract now. It’s pretty obvious he doesn’t have the dedication, not the self awareness. You’d think being given a one-year deal would’ve made the penny drop, and I’m sure the club would’ve made it abundantly clear. He’s been given one year and due to the nature of the injury won’t play any games. So on-field performance can’t be a measure for retaining him. It’s about dedication to rehab, attitude, professionalism. You only have to look at him to know that’s he’s a long way short of AFL standards.

Perhaps with this newish fitness guy, the idea is that he really needs to put on a bit of chub to put him behind the 8 ball. This will allow for a training montage, comeback kid style against all the odds and we have a winner on our hands, one with a winning smile.

I’m torn about this one.

On one hand I want standards raised and complete buy in from the entire list, and on the other hand I really want Mo22ie to make it.

Once he starts stepping up his training hopefully a senior player or two really gets around him and lifts his training standards.

Anyone actually thought that we wanted him to build up his body weight to handle the rigours of AFL footy? I’m not sure a single photo is grounds for a public execution and delisting. As others have said he has time to get this right. A little rope may be what he needs to ultimately succeed as a footballer.

It’s also worth noting that he now has huge shoulders and chest. He may be doing a lot of eating whilst building his upper body. There’s every chance he’s doing plenty of Pilates strengthening his core as well. The cushion that covers it can quickly drop when he can build up his running and cardio.
I’m hoping he’s on perfect schedule and we will see him bursting out of packs and burying opponents with power tackles in 13 months time.

At first I thought you were telling the mob here not to lynch him, but then… yowsers! :sunglasses:

I’m not ready to delist but surely stacking on the kegs for a knee rehab ain’t great,

Why?

I’ll judge him by end of season and how his conditioning looks then.

Hire this man.

We all need to see this.

Needs to be “in shape” much earlier than that. Obviously unless Covid holds things up again he’s unlikely to play this year, but he’d want to be more or less ready to play before years end.

How about a video?

Was coming here to say just this.
His shoulders/chest look significantly bigger.

The club may be telling him to eat as much as he can to bulk whilst injured.

Absolutely no chance they would be actively encouraging a small forward to put on weight during a knee rehab program.

He was a twig pre injury.
He needed to add significant muscle. There is every chance they have given him this instruction.

Even his arms looks significantly bigger now.

You can easily add muscle as a professional athlete without the need to bulk.

They are footballers, ‘bro-science’ dirty bulk does not apply. Add strength through trunk and glutes. Chest and shoulders is borderline useless for him.

This is a misconception. He was solid last year pre-injury. Absolutely not a twig.

How is it ‘bro science’ lmao
What a way to make yourself sound like a flog.
