If the last 15 seasons has taught us anything, he’ll be injured or completely out of form by June 2025. No one EVER backs up a break out season at this club. No one.
4 seasons ago this comment would have filled me with joy.
This is just noise, you cannot believe anything anyone says anymore at the club.
This says way more about you than the player you’re talking about.
Merrett?
Before reading the last couple of posts I was thinking that Duz had a great first 12-16 games but fell away a bit towards the end of the year. Thought he must have tired a bit given he is young and it was the first year in the centre. Maybe returning Parish and Shiel did take some of his CBAs which is why there was a dip. Not sure what the answer is.
BUT I think he can again go up another level in 2025. Confidence is a bit thing and he knows now he is good enough. He has the ability to be our best centre clearance player (for breakaway) . Another pre-season will help him.
I believe we can fit all of Parish, Duz, Merrett, Shiel, Caldwell and Hobbs into the same side. All their centre work is good enough, just need to find spots for them when they are in the starting three.
Shiel and Caldwell can rest forward. Really liked Hobbs there also but i’m in the minority for that. Parish is a pure mid and I also think Merrett is also.
Would much rather Durham gets some time on the wing again if he is not in the centre.
Duzza needs to stay away from the bad trainers. Stringer is gone, so that’s one out of the way.
Hang around Merrett and Shiel and he should be ok.
No love for Tsatas?
The words mean stuff all to me.
I remember McVeigh making a passionate speech to the group at the end of one season.
The next year we made finals and were totally smashed by Adelaide.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m sure the players mean it and are invested in it. In a way it builds a healthy competitive mindset. But it means nothing until it is followed up with actions.
I’m pretty bullish on Durham and feel there is a fair bit more development in him.
All empty words, we’ve heard it all before. The playing group is really ‘hurting’. Yeah sure they are.
So much love for the new chungus.
Sam Durham. Duz …
Reckon he might break cover this next season and become a true Bomber star. Type of player we need four of tbf … one on the ball as familiar as he is, another as the two way running winger we know he was and can always be, another pushing up forward taking a sneaky grab and goal … and other off the bench just so we’ve got another Sam Durham to come on and impact.
Just really looking forward to next season watching and supporting this guy. He’s a gun.
Has anyone posted Sammy’s recent mark at training, in another thread perhaps ?

Duzzalenko
Also, fark Carlton
This guy is genuinely so anti Essendon of the last 20 years. He and his mindset is everything we and a large number of our list hasnt been.
It was really bewildering to me when Brad took him out of the middle for the last 3rd of the season last year, as I thought up until that point he had probably been our second best mid.
I hope he gets more consistent time in the middle this year because his mixture of work effort, skill and composure is something no other player on our list has.
Also a deadset good guy and funny bugger one of my favourites from before he became a star just through meeting him
