#23 David Myers Retyers

His clearances count for ■■■■ all.

Yeah didn’t think he was awful today by any stretch.

Joey
Daylight
Baguley
McGrath
Stewart

… Were terrible in that order

And how was the quality of those clearances?
Contested possessions might be because of being so slow he can’t get to space to be uncontested.
As an inside mid he should have a high tackle count.
He’s a witches hat defensively and lacks intelligence with his use of the ball.
Opposition teams would love him with the ball because you know he won’t hurt you with it, its either a safe kick or non-advantageous long bomb.
One of the first players to put a line thru to bring on the youngsters.

To be fair, it wasn’t Stewart’s fault. Daniher on the other hand had the ball kicked to him and just was useless and lazy

Why was he spending time forward and on the (small) bench?

People will always make up what they want. He did what he was required to. Wasn’t the best game but he shouldn’t be singled out.
P.s his clearances were good as was his disposal. Heppell and Zaharakis on the other hand.

Don’t look at the stats our blokes in the back line, just kicked the ball around up and backwards and across the ground and then to the opposition. Stats in our game today mean zilch.

The reason we were switching so much in the backline all day is because Collingwood dominated through the middle of the park.

We had no free options all day due to lack of run through the middle and also the fact that we just handball sideways once we get it which renders our forwardline useless.

He’s a shining relic of the Essington era. Drafted high, shows good promise in mostly games where we win, never consistent, never reliable, not a good kick and slow. He gets stats, 20 possessions, but so does everyone. In todays world stats are fcking meaningless. He gets burnt the other way badly, he has poor skills and he’s just a fcking liability who can’t find consistency at nearly 29. He is very much part of the problem at this club, hide in the background, don’t take ownership. I can’t wait for the day this guy is shipped off. Thanks for the effort but please.

History will tell you that only one man drops Myers and that’s Myers himself.

I’d give him the rest of this year and 2019 and half of 2020 to see if he comes good.

You don’t get clearances, contested possessions and tackles by kicking it to each other

Far worse than him today.

That’s the Myers I remember. But hey he played well last week, so he’s still got another fortnight worth of goodwill… that’s how it goes right ?

But our forwards don’t lead so the kids have to handball to buy time. Both groups need to get their act together. The only guy who leads up the ground is Cale who knows its a nightmare for defenders when they play on someone who presents and provides a tardget for the midfield to kick to.

Not sure why the forwards would lead when the ball was shifting from one side of the back 50 to the other.

Have a look at the heat map in the AFL app and you will get the picture.

All the congestion was through the middle of the ground just like what Richmond are so good at.

That’s where you have Fletch roost one 55-60m over the congestion to break things up.

Yep.

That’s why I love Hurley so much.

He turns it over at times but he has such a great leg that he can clear zones.

He has that ability to run 20 meters and then boot it another 50.

No surprise that he’s always so high for meters gained.

We miss the run that Irish provides also.

We are just far to predictable and that’s why we need some guenuine star factor in the middle of the park to break the zones down.

So your saying he just needs a run at AFL level?
