#23 Harrison Jones

I get the concerns around Harry, and they’re legitimate. Mainly to do with his body. But let’s not start comparing him with Brand and Eyre who were never within cooee of AFL footy.

Hasn’t he already ran like 15ks in multiple games…? probably more about adjusting his leading patterns to consistently get to dangerous spots and maybe jag some set shots slightly closer to the sticks

At what point do you cut your losses on a player? We held onto Gumby & Francis for 7-8 years before determining that they simply weren’t up to the physical requirements of AFL footy. By this point they were worth nothing in trade value.

LAV & Zerk ?

In two years, he will be 24. By then, we would of had a look at Voss, had a chance of drafting another tall/trading someone in, and/or 12 months atleast of assessing Weid and Wright together (we aren’t going to get to do this, for the most part this year), and maybe Langford playing as a third forward as part of that.

Zerk wasn’t injured, he was developed as a KPD in the VFL. Also, he is not a twig. Lav is a rare case.

Zerk is pretty skinny for a KP defender in Year 6.

I think you are wanting/hoping Harry to develop into something his body cannot transform into.

You are generally a very impatient supporter, which is absolutely your perogative.
I think punting Harry after 4 years is premature.
Would i be correct in assuming that is your preference ?

Jones will be fine. sure he has worries with his body. but he will work through them. just annoying we have Cox and Reid in similar positions injury wise. it’s a bit premature for calls to axe him.
my comparison is probably waite. and took him time to fill out his body.

My preference would be to play VOSS and make Jones play VFL once he’s back not rush him into 1s.
felt a bit much was expected of him and ultimately lead to his body breakig down.

same with Reid. we were going to rush him into the 1s even before ridley went down and his body could t cope.

I’m not impatient at all, I have more patients than most because I am willing to forgo 4 years of development and start again with the right player. There are certain traits I see in players that make me sit back and say give them as much time as they need to develop, these include footy smarts, toughness at the ball, speed and elite skills. I am not a fan of soft players, something we have recruited many of for 2 decades and then wonder why we can’t win finals or big games.

He plays nothing like Jarrod Waite.

You’d need to go back to 2006 for a fair comparison, and i doubt your memory is doing this.

It took a number of years for Waite to start playing consistent footy.
A lot of people have 50 game mark as a milestone. for others its 100 games.

Waite 194cm drafted in 2001 - didnt play 2002.

first 3 years 29 games + 18 Goals

Going backwards at a rate of knots

But he gets a one year deal for mine

Zerk is very very skinny for a guy who has been in the system for 6 years

Ditto Ridley

The saga really has spooked the club in terms of putting size on players

I said he was a different type player, I know he had his issues.

Can you please share these goal kicking stats as a junior. Jones only kicked 4 goals in the NAB league.

Ditto Redman……Ditto most of our list

BZT has put on nearly 15kg from his draft weight.

BZT is not that small, he’s just not a monster like Hawkins or Dixon.

Blitz new obsession is 120kg meatheads

I have concerns with Jones after this year especially, but I think he has shown enough skill and ceiling for at least another year.
