I disagree.
I think when he plays permanently forward he normally has at least a couple of shots at goal a game.
But yeah I guess time will tell.
He needs to kick 30+ goals next year to show he is capable of being in our future.
I really want to see a forward line of Jones, Shannahan, Caddy, Langford, Kako and Rosas next year.
That is a genuinely exciting list of players imo.
Heās very athletic and is a very decent grab when on. I think his hands are getting better as his Cody gets stronger. I think thereās an excellent CHF in there somewhere.
Give him a whole year in the role and see how he goes.
If we were to get a forward in the draft Iād like to see either them or jones in the forward line while the other is in the vfl.
The problem with our forwards is they let the ball fly out of the forward fifty so we need to shake it up and go smaller pressure players
Iām in the try him in the backline camp.
Good leap and reach
Good field kick
Good tank
Good enough speed
Prepared to tackle
Can be swung forward mid game
Let Lav walk
Delist Weed
Key backs
Rids
McKay
Hayes
Jones
Cox if desperate
3 KP players and 1 mid is still too big, unless 1 is always on the bench
Too tall for me.
3 small forwards, 2 medium forwards 1 KPP.
Or some combination with extra smalls. I want to see us change things and get more mobile and agile. If we want to stretch them, play the second ruck froward for short periods, but in general I want mobility, movement and pressure.
I see it differently, 18 goals is a terrible return for someone who played half the year forward and the other half forward/wing.
Wasnāt it the geelong game that he started playing wing ? that was round 16
he was moved out of the forwardline cos he is a kpf who had kicked 11 goals to that time.
and yet somehow you think heās gonna add 10 -15 goals if he plays solely as a forward and kick 35, almost doubling any yearly tally of goals heās kicked in a single season.
God I know you over estimate the list and players, but geez this is fantasy land type stuff.
Jones is a god aweful forward, he gets by on the fact he is supposedly a 190 plus defensive decoy forward, who kinda looks good floating across packs every now and again.
Put it this way, if he went to a club with a great system and environment, would they make him a defender?
Heās not a defenderā¦
You could have said the same of Darcy Moore.
Hence why I said Try him, not he is a defender.
That being said I think he would be better than all of Weed, Lav and Cox
I donāt know. Heās not a physical defensive type. He doesnāt look like a defender to me. Iād be more than happy to be proven wrong though.
He averages just over a goal a game for his career.
If he plays 23 games next year he needs to average .3 more goals per game than his career average to kick 30 goals.
Wow yes that is such a fantasy land type number.
Key position player who finally gets to play a season without injuries kicks .3 more goals per game the following year - unheard of apparently.
You are one of the most obnoxious posters on this forum if not the most obnoxious, I dont know why I take the time to read any of your replies.
He also thought Andy McGrath was the best thing since sliced bread. Jones has the potential to be ok and this year could well serve as an important bridge season for him after being beset with injury, but I donāt hold a heap of stock in Shawās opinion.
We have a massive debacle at the moment with all of Draper, Wright, Jones, Stringer, Langford, Perkins and Caddy being either tall or lacking forward pressure.
Ideally, my forward set up is Draper, Jones, Langford and Caddy.
so hes excited in his potential⦠heās been in the system for 5 years and shown 3/5ths of ā ā ā ā all. just another clapper.
Harrison jones is just our version of chol or koschitzke or finalyson in that they are just ok enough to stay on a list
Wait for it, Brad will train him as a defender over the preseason, and you are going to love it!
