2 years is one year more than Iā€™d ideally sign him for, and even then, Iā€™d want to see a damn sight more from him to keep him on for next season. He copped a bad injury and I hope he recovers fully, but this is not a great list move. And the problem is, he will think heā€™s been doing OK by virtue of that contract extension.

Thats amazing. To last this long and not still know your place in the side only to be extended for another 2? Better than lotto for Harry. Crazy thing is, we still have Coxy on the list who is in the same basket, he should ask for an extension asap.

Showed a bit of promise in 2021 which some nice grabs and a couple snags while averaging about 7 touches a game.

That form apparently gets you 7 more years at the club. FMD, what a joke.

Two years is ridiculous we did the same with guelfi when thereā€™s no benefit to it.
We could have easily waited until the end of the year and done it then.
If we find a couple of gems in the mid season draft that goes past Jones what would be the point in keeping him

I agree about Gerrwyn, has shown more, albiet at a lower level than Jones has. Gerreyn is tracking beautifully, relegating Jones to depth. The 2 years deal is baffling, based on output he doesnā€™t deserve more than one, if that.

If Essendon is planning on trying to make a big off-season play for someone, they need to start getting everything organized soon. Need to know the absolute maximum you can afford to spend in advance of making the final sell.

So there is potentially going to be a few of these over the next 6-8 weeks.
