Jones is not a wingman, has the potential to be a good tall forward but persisting with him on the wing is just dumb.
It could potentially destroy his career at Essendon if Brad continues with it which I donāt think he will fwiw.

Prior has improved since that first game. Would not call that a blemish by any stretch.
We are down 2 ruckman and heās holding the fort up. Has faired well in his 2 games. Hindsight says keeping him as backup was a good idea.
Laverde is depth. Line ball decision to keep him. Again hindsight says it was a good idea given Hayes and Ridley are out.
Shiel, Guelfi and Setterfieldā¦arenāt they all out of contract at the end of this year? You canāt just delist players without their consent and when they have a contract can you so absolutely nothing to see here!
The contract offer is a show of faith in a player who gave up his life in Perth to follow his dream. Farewelling him after doing an ACL would have gone down like a cup of vomit with the playing group and the fan base and probably the wider media. Heāll hardly be smashing cap space either so hardly can be called a blemish.

Same as Cox and Aaron Francis before them. It is blindingly obvious that these talls need a defined key position role and the coaches have the patience to develop them. Jones and Cox should be told, āyou will play as key forwards from now on. Kick enough goals in the VFL and you will earn a spot.ā Then leave them alone.

yep develop in Vfl and get stronger for position drafted rather than on the wing.
Hopefully El-Hawli puts those thoughts of cox/Jones on the wing to bed by the end of the year.

The whole reason heās being played on the wing is because he failed as a forward. I just donāt follow the logic that says he should be moved back there.

Iām not convinced by him forward or wing. Heās below average or average on every metric compared to other midfielder/wingmen in the AFL. He needs to be a non-stop, hard working player who presents and presents and demands the footy, especially when we are coming out of defence and we need an outlet kick.
Unfortunately heās not strong enough in a marking contest to absorb any physical contact and still mark the ball. Then when he does push forward and gets a shot at goal, heās completely lost confidence. Basically since that game against the Pies late 2022 when he had a chance to ice the game, hits the post and they go up the other end and Elliot wins it after the siren heās been completely ā ā ā ā in that area.

Heās never been an effective forward and heās positively useless on the wing.
Heās barely a goal a game key forward, doesnāt nab enough marks for my liking to ever get there.
We should feel free to let him go, we will need probably 5 spots for next years draft, happy if heās one of them

Probably need to wait for the bruising to settle down before they can work out just how ā ā ā ā ā ā the ligaments are. I imagine itās not as simple as a sprain.

They said theyāll know more about a timeline once he can start running and how much load it can take. I suppose some respond better, others not.
Agree, caddy has already gone past him in a handful of gamesā¦and what Jones like about 5th year at the club? Needs to move on. North will probably take him

We did the right thing just giving him a one year contract and now itās time to let him go. We have seen enough.
