#23 - Harrison Jones

Reminds me of hipwood early on, skinny but can take a grab even though he looks like he will break most of the time.

As they cut away from the team song you could hear Jones laughing and getting stuck into Hooker for taking his mark away. But your point is very valid about Jones having the legs to present further up the field.

A see a bit of that but Jones is a much better kick and doesn’t quite have the baby giraffe thing going on that hipwood does.

No offense to Hooker, but I really doubt that’s what he was thinking.

No way he thought that

He doesn’t stop. Was on the bottom of a lot of packs all over the ground on Sunday. Going to be very good.

I watched him quite a bit on Sunday. He runs around a lot but does a lot of half to three quarter pace running. I’d prefer to see him jog then run hard when he needs to eg on the lead, or when he tries to outrun his opponent back to goal. I still think he needs to lead a lot more (because Hooker and Wright don’t/can’t), and it could be a strength. He also needs to get smarter at leading eg push off to get separation in the first few steps. Hopefully those sorts of things will come. He also is getting his hands to a lot of marks and not holding them. I guess this is par for the course for a lot of KP forwards, not just young ones.
But all in all, I think he is going extremely well. I just see a few things he can, and hopefully will, get better at.

Which is great news. He’s been really good, but how exciting is it to know he will be a whole lot better.

Barracked for us as a kid too.

You are wandering into Permaban territory

Have to say, I have noticed on quite a few occasions Cale will do something to ensure the more mobile person is up the ground, so I honestly wouldn’t put that past him and agree with Jack.

read the thread bud haha

yep noticed this a couple of times.

makes it way too easy for his opponent to stick with him on the lead.

He’s infinitely better than Hipwood.

And then along came Jones
Tall, thin Jones
Slow-walkin’ Jones
Slow-talkin’ Jones
Along came long, lean, lanky Jones

I calling it.

Better than Daniher.

I remember laughing when Dodoro said had we accepted the deal from the Swans for Snake we’d have taken Jones at 9 as that’s where we rated him, if that’s true and he was 9 on our board then well done Dodoro and team.

I agree, I think he’ll be a better all round player overall, less MOTY/GOTY highlights but more team orientated and more consistent/sustained efforts.
