Draper and Goldy can take a mark forward or be that bail out kick option
And Iāve also posted about this. Goldstein and Draper have taken 9 and 7 marks respectively this season so far, from a combined 9 games. Thatās less than two marks per game, combined.
Bryan has shown enough in the VFl to earn a call up.
he will get his chance at some stage when Goldy needs a rest.
unless we elect to play Wright as second ruck.
Bryan just needs to take his chance and run with it when he gets it.
Ideally he has moved past Goldy by the end of the year.
Id be surprised if either player has done either of those things more than once this season
If he canāt get a game with Draper playing the way he is, I donāt think he ever will.
I would much rather us play him over Draper.
He needs to develop some mongrel
Bryan played another very good game today winning in the ruck, getting clearances, gathering many disposals around the ground and being constructive with them.
Not getting a gig with Draper out looks as though he isnāt highly rated internally with that in mind would you trade him to fix a hole in the list like a lightning quick small forward
Yep, heād land us a juicy pick in the 50s I reckon.
Not sure what the point of having Bryan on the list is if we never bring him in when our first ruckman is out.
A Dodoro special. Pick 38 on a ruckman is eyebrow raising. Picking him directly in front of Chad Warner is annoying. Moving him on five years on for a pick in the 50s is laughable.
We all thought we were too tall at selection last week. I think it makes sense to go 1 ruck shorter this week and to use Wright as the #2.
There is absolutely nothing eyebrow raising about using pick 38 on a ruckman.
Itās terrible drafting. You need to be a pretty special ruckman to get a second round pick used on you. Not just a run of the mill ruck who competes at centre bounces and throw ins. Just get one off the scrap heap for that.
Goldstein is out?
His athletic ability alone was worth the chance.
Hasnāt come on as much as weād obviously hoped, but was a perfectly reasonable pick at the time.
Itās pick 38 ffs, not top 10.
Even still youāre going out of your way to undersell him. He regularly gets over 20 touches, heās doing alot more than just competing for hitouts
Take out Warner and there was very little quality taken after him.
And it made sense at the time, we needed a young guy to come through.
Given we picked up an 85 year old to play ahead of him (and regularly ruck ahead of Draper too) Iād have thought that was abundantly clear.
I feel a bit sorry for him actually. He re-signed in good faith only for us to sign Goldstein shortly thereafter. It wasnāt like Bryan signed in a Preuss-like manoeuvreā¦
If he was good enough, or had any forward craft at all, heād be playing
Hundred percent we donāt rate him but I think he could fetch a late second / early third for a club in need
