#24 Nick Bryan - ACL recovery thru 2025

  1. Training reports say he was not at the training session. Maybe Nackers made it up. Take it up with him.
  2. Since he is 35 and not performing in one of the most important positions, I would question how he is preparing and whether he wants to succeed enough or has checked out and maybe should be joining a bowls club.

Back off on Goldstein attending a Birthday, so getting a later flight. He still made it to the Gold Coast . Life has to come first sometimes. It’s not everyday that a old school friend turns 100.

It’s not every day that he gets to play for the EFC either

Brad says “au contraire”…

Fingers crossed he plays well and can consolidate his place in the team.

  1. Do you reckon that there might be more than 1 training session per week? I do and I’m confident Goldy attended most; if not all of them. I will also add that he’s probably on a personalised program so he may not need to attend every single session.

  2. Question away…that is your right. Our coaching group disagrees with you and given results so far this year I’ll back their judgement in.

I’ll caveat all this as I think the opportunity is there for Bryan to get a game and give Goldy a rest in readiness for the scum next week too but what will be will be.

He needs to grab this opportunity today.

Moyle is certainly talented but even still it’s a rare instance at AFL level where Bryan isn’t younger or less experienced than his opponent.

So it’s the perfect opportunity for him to make his case and make things more difficult for the coaching panel, which tends to be stubborn, to consider him.

Not too many excuses not to at least break even.

i believe bryzas come up against moyle in vfl and did acquit himself quite well?

Really looking to seeing Bryan’s game today.
If he had played, I’d expect Goldstein would have lost 70% of ruck contests, battled to maybe 9 disposals, (most of which would not be damaging), taken 2 marks and maybe got 2 clearances. On the positive side, he would have run up and down the field all day much like someone in an office trying to look busy when mostly doing nothing effective. Meanwhile, the Gold Coast midfield would has smashed us far worse than the Richmond spuds last week.

In contrast, I expect Bryan will split at least half of ruck contests, most of his field kicks will be clean and he will double Goldstein’s clearance average. He might have a few more periods not running up and down looking busy, but I’ll forgive him for that.

You must be a little embarrassed for your previous carry on?

No issues here. Adding in a completely fit young mobile Ruckman versus a very proficient, but banged up Goldie totally makes sense.

Do you want me to praise Scott for the way he bamboozled Hardwick by making him think the spud Goldstein would play by not listing him as managed on Thursday night and only letting Hardwick find out an hour before? That would be a great chess move if true.

Of course, there may even be another interpretation. Perhaps Goldstein wanted to enjoy an extra beer at the birthday party so there was always a risk of him missing his flight. Scott selected Bryan for insurance for Goldy’s beers and now that insurance is needed. Very professional of you Scott, very professional!

lol. I love how you have invented your own version of events so you can get outraged at it.

I heard there was a birthday party and Goldy drank all of the beers and they had to close the birthday party
