How raw are we talking with Bryan guys?
How’d he go against the VFL rucks he’s gone up against so far?

We’re talking quite refined in terms of centre square work, actually.
It’s the around the ground stuff that I think he’s still a season or two away. Opposition rucks will soon work out to stop him being able to leap and make it a wrestling grind. If he can stay off the contest and get a run at it, he’ll be a handful.
That said, play him. Not much to lose because he’s talented and there’s not many other options.
sounds good, I think as someone mentioned above a tandem act with Phillips would be beneficial for him as well and maybe give us some options resting forward
It’ll have to be Bryan / Wright or Bryan/ Hooksy in the short term because Phillips hasn’t played a game as yet.
He will play and by mid season we will have a conundrum on our hands, plus a bunch of clubs lining up to take him off our hands if we can’t find a way to play both he and Draper.
It wont be a problem. We will never have them both fit at the same time.
I reckon for at least 2-3 years we can play both until they can carry a primary ruck role.
I think Bryan would be pretty good stationed a kick away from the contest when he isn’t in the ruck in an intercepting/rebounding role.
He’s a decent kick for a big guy and having someone with his height might help out our undersized defenders. Similar to what mcevoy provides to Hawks defense
Longterm I think that’s his best way to fit in with Draper - who’s size will be needed forward more often when Hooker retires with Eyre and Jones being smaller rangy-er types.
Bit off-topic but pretty much everybody ever seems to forget Patrick Ryder the CHB. It was so long ago. But he was alright at it when he was skinny and raw!
Bryan???
I remember Franklin kicking 9 goals on him a couple of times.
Draper has played 10(?) games. He’s too good to rest for 30% of the season (if he manages to stay un-injured) and not ready to carry the ruck solo as grundy does, so it’s better he gets genuine support during the match as well as learning forward craft.
When Draper gets back I would hope the mix (ruck/forward) is
Draper 60/20
Bryan 30/40
2MP 10/80.
Hooker is going ok but I’d be playing 2 of above 3 plus jones & stringer as the tall forwards.
BRING
Its round 3 and we officially don’t have a healthy ruckman.
Come on down…Gestures broadly at anyone tall in the locker room
No not at all
You’re joking.
This should be fun.
If thats a 6-8 week hammy I’m done for the year I think.
Club is cursed
