#24 Nick Bryan - ACL recovery thru 2025

He will only grow, 23 is still a puppy in ruck terms.
Exposure at this level is the only forward for Bryza now

Yep, he will only get better by playing at the higher level.

He is a much more natural linking player through the midfield, you can see it with his improving tank

Had 9 marks compared to Drapers 0.

Really impressed with his game.
Wasn’t going up against a monster ruck, but that just made his around the ground game more noteworthy.

Love the flexibility he gives us with Draper and Caddy.

His body reminds me a bit of the big fish. If he went forward and played any where near like
Salmon could; Oh wowy.

This bloke is a beautiful kick for a big fella.

Attended 46% of Ruck contests and won 60% with 31 % being to advantage.

Draper won 45% by comparison with 29% to advantage

Love him clinical Ruckman, Scott got Goldstein to help this bloke

Very surprising stats as to the naked eye especially in the first quarter I thought we looked a lot worse at centre bounces when Bryan was rucking

His tap work is good but we lose the bustling draper follow up.

Bryan has some really good taps to advantage

60% win rate is elite though. Will be interesting to see if he can sustain that

It would be interesting to see clearance win rates broken down by ruckmen. Tap wins and taps to advantage don’t tell the whole picture

Draper had 5 clearances to bryan’s 2 and 4 ground ball gets to 1 of which 3 were post clearance vs 0

Meek has 2 clearances, 7 gb and 3 post clr gb

Bryan did 64% of the center bounces

The key to the two rucks is being able to work over the other ruckman and take advantage over whoever is the teams 2nd option.

It’s also who they contribute outside of the rucking contest, we need both to be providing protection to Caddy in the forward line and providing that KP marking option in transition.

I’m giving them most of the season to work it out, mainly because we have no other options

I thought the opposite. Meek didnt seem to get any clear taps.

Bryans ruck work and Drapers follow up work

Only if we could combine the two we would have best ruckman in the league!

Bryan is going underrated as a developing ruck…in a way that’s good, but I think he can develop into a serious player.

I don’t think many rate him as one of our best young talents, but I really think his progress is excellent.

I’m a big fan of the guy

He will come into his own the more confident he starts to get. The only way that will happen is getting a consistent run in the seniors

Has to get a heap bigger and become more physical or he will struggle

Agree about him needing to be that bit more physical.

However, N. Byran’s stated height of 203cm and weight of 101kg is fairly decent. You wouldn’t call him an underweight bean pole.

His size is why he should be that bit more physical. I wanna see him crash packs, clear a path, make the other team’s guys hurt in a fair manner, let 'em know that he’s there.

This is Year 6 in the system.
It’s been a slow build, though not unheard of for a Ruckman.
He is clearly more competitive than a couple of years ago.

Still only 23 years of age, there’s some signs for sure.
I hope we give him a higher % of Ruck time this year than Draper.
We will take a loss at times in the Ruck but we need to take the development opportunity.
