#24 Nick Bryan - instigating mêlées til 2025

I’ve got him as our starting ruckman next year and I’m not sure where that leaves Draper

Could’ve been the starting ruckman the last two years. Is a very talented footballer, has just needed opportunity.

That’s the worst thing about our list. We still don’t know enough about players like Bryan because we have been playing spuds like Goldstein and Laverde

Honestly that’s been wildly overblown on here. Sometimes he looks gassed but he then goes again, some guys just look like that. His tank will build with more AFL footy but it’s nowhere near as bad as many on here try to suggest.

Really glad we pumped games into Goldy so Bryan could rot in the VFL. Goldy should of been the backup for when Bryan is hurt, not the other way round

Reckon he’s been stronger in the ruck contest tonight.

Lots of could have beens if given a chance.

Impressed. Hope he doesn’t want out, because he looks ready for a 15-20 game season next year. Just about the best player below his knees at the club, he’s a good handball, he kicks well.

I’d like to congratulate him on getting a full game

Was a great battle with mcinernie tonight

He does the basics well and gives repeated second efforts. He’s already a head of Draper on those two things.

Brad has missed a big opportunity this season with Bryan, should have played all year.

Did a great job. Hopefully he decides to stay.

Brad got his bestie to trigger his contact for next year. He has achieved what he wanted.

I like the balance of Nick being main ruck and Draper forward/ruck…this could work moving forward. Peter Wright is going to have an interesting off season.

McInerney is arguably the toughest ruck opponent in the league. Bryan showed he belonged at AFL level tonight. Fingers crossed he uses this as motivation over the off season and comes back in 2025 breathing fire as our no 1 ruck.

Why do rucks not run at each other in the Center square anymore? They sort of start all over the place and just seem to meet for a good scrag.
Did I miss a rule change or something?

Goldy will retire, I hope. Bryan and Draper are the way ahead.

Rucks can straight arm block now without infringing, so if you run and leap you can get pushed off the contest by the oppo ruck and if they stay on ground, they’ll have advantage to win the tap or take possession. So the rucks that have flourished most are those that can basically become another stoppage presence and win their own ball (Xerri, Marshall, Briggs) instead of relying on pure tapwork.

It basically means rucks stay down in most situations and resort to wrestling for the tap, and rucks who generally had greater athleticism over brute strength and presence have had some of their biggest strengths taken away (English, Draper, even Jackson to some extent)

He looks stronger… Or heavier… Or something.

I like it.
