#25 Jake Stringer (Part 1)

I fixed it up for Heather.

Dusty, Danger aren’t the best two way running mids.

Juddy and Ablett weren’t great either.

We are building a nucleus of very good two way running mids led by Zerrett and complemented by McGrath and Smith.

I’m ok if Stringer doesn’t have the defensive mindset of these guys. But fk I’d love to see him get 6-8 clearances a match.

A lot of petals on here don’t like hearing it but Cooney is absolutely correct.

Problem is Stringer has always been a liability with his defensive work - even when deployed as an undersized deep key forward, when he theoretically had a speed and agility advantage over his matchup. It is only going to get harder if he gets put through the midfield.

Not to say it can’t or won’t change but he hasn’t been fit enough thus far to warrant midfield time.

Guess that’s why he’s been fitness training and addressing those flaws. Petals? Well maybe Jakey will bloom with the right gardener. Tuff stuff all over the off season right now.

good to see him happy

When I first looked I thought it was Woosha in the pool with him but it’s Jakes Dad.

Lookin good Jake!!
Fit & well.
(Kids looking a little wary of that partially submerged lion though;)

Kill for a pool like that. Might just pull the boots on again

Will be in parents apartment complex in Docklands

Right. Might pull on the property developer brogues then

I still find it pretty cringey to re-post a completely non-football related social media post to a forum like this.

Perhaps not cringy, if it helps to correct misconceptions about the guy.

What misconception. He slept with another woman, didn’t abandon his kids.

a healthy mind is just as important as a healthy body

Its in the docklands. See it on his instagram story all the time. He lives there

“…AFL love rat Jake Stringer doesn’t deserve redemption…”

Ask a woman to rate a “love rat”, probable answer worse than estate agents, solicitors, used car salesmen and politicians.

Ask me to be objective when I’m a blogger turned columnist.

We were talking about the best players in the comp yesterday over a few Beers.

Dusty
Dangerfield
Ablett
Buddy

I said to watch out for Stringer next year if he can convert his game to midfield he could be a important piece to our puzzle.
I see him more of a Robbie Gray than a Dustin Martin at this stage, but i guess he could be like a dusty Martin Circa 2015. Midfield Bursts and rest forward, dominate first halves and go missing in second halves.

Players im most excited about 2018
Stringer - can he become a elite mid.
Saad
Daniher - will he reach his ceiling
McKenna - still think he can go to another level
McGrath Parish - 2 way running mids who have good disposal and fit
Langofrd/laverde - can they force their way into best 22.
Francis - get fit pls - not sure where he fits in - maybe a utility.
Ridley - had high hopes but is injured.

Fyfe? I reckon he’s gonna make a big impact next year.

JJK deserves to be up there too. I predict Dangers, Dusty, Buddy, Fyfe and JJK to be top 5 in 2018.

Ditto, I am looking forward to see what Daniher can do next year.

It’ll be interesting to see where Laverde, Langford, Begley and Myers go next year. Ditto Stewart now that we have Stringer.
