Prior started in Brisbane’s AFL team as a forward.
Is he actually any good? Why don’t the Lions want him?
Ah no. Originally yes but Scott knew Kelly’s kicking was a liability so tried to play him on a wing most weeks.
Masterstroke move right there by Brad.
Unsurprisingly, the reigning premiers have a vastly superior list to ours and solid players like Prior aren’t first choice in their position. He could be a good role player at EFC, i.e. a Kelly upgrade.
Sounds like a one year deal. Low risk and a pretty solid player from what I’ve seen.
FFS I legit nearly ■■■■■■ myself reading this!
Needed prior warning to have Ventolin ready
Fagan on Prior in August this year…
Having played his “best game of AFL footy”, Jaxon Prior gave Brisbane Lions coach Chris Fagan little choice but to retain him for Sunday’s clash with St Kilda at Marvel Stadium.
The Lions have made one change to the team that beat Gold Coast by 28 points in last Saturday’s QClash, with co-captain and key defender Harris Andrews returning from concussion protocols.
However, it wasn’t at the expense of Prior, who has often been the fall guy at the selection table.
Instead, Irish defender Conor McKenna, who was the substitute against the Suns, has been omitted from the 23.
“He deserved to stay in the team,” Fagan said of 23-year-old Prior, who has only played seven senior games since the start of last season.
“He played a very good game. He’s been playing well in the reserves for quite some time.
“He’s played (37) AFL games, but he’s relatively experienced even though he hasn’t played a heap of games.
“(The QClash) was probably the best game of AFL footy he’s played, so fingers crossed he’s suddenly developed into a bloke who thinks he’s capable at the level, because that’s always been his challenge.
“Last week he played like he felt like he belonged.”
Sounds like he has confidence issues which iam surprised about considering the quality of he’s girl friend
The ‘Kelly’ comparisons bother me rightly or wrongly. Kelly’s greatest flaw was to play east/west rather than north/south. And slowwwwwly. His decision making was tremulous. Not sure what Proir brings to the table but hopefully an upgrade on recent positional reps.
Well he ought to be able to kick then. His old man was beautiful off the half back flank.
Interesting that he’s coached by one of the two most happy clapper coaches in the competition and has confidence issues.
I’m sure the groan of the crowd after his first erroneous kick for us will do wonders for his confidence.
There’s a bit of romance with his dad being a former Don. Even though he technically isn’t a father son recruit, with only one Davey on the list we haven’t had any good father son’s since the traitor Daniher was playing for us.
I’ll be rooting for him so here’s hoping Jaxon has a wonderful and successful career with us moving forward.
What’s it like back there in the 1970s?
…and it is his, not he’s.
I wouldn’t know as I wasn’t born but do enlighten me
Should’ve thought of that before signing him
Someone suggested he’s conservative with his choices, you’ll get around him🙃
Do Essendon supporters groan anymore after errant kicks? After 20 years of old mate prioritising room cleanliness over actual footballing skills, and delivering us a constant source of blokes who can’t kick, don’t they just expect it by now?
