#25 - Jaxon Prior

I doubt it, Sheeds hated him. No way he would have given him a chance at a flag in his first season. Plus, Salmon was ‘on’ that year. Even in 94 Scotty had to kick extraordinary bags of goals for 5-10 weeks in a row before Sheeds even thought about playing him in the seniors.

That makes sense. Did always wonder why Cummings was moved on from us so fast when he did seem to kick a lot goals. Of course his replacement went alright, but did always seem strange to me.

Just looked him up and learnt that we got Heffernan and JJ as a result of the picks we got for him… not bad trading!

I believe the Cummings trade landed us Daniel McAlister at 5, and JJ at 28

Yeah good point. Alessio also played 12 games in 1993 and was probably next cab of the rank for Salmon that year too.

Yeah, Wadewitz broke his leg and missed the cut but then ended up being this world class Leadership Guru later in life.

Ridley and Plain were also a handy forward that in 92 - 93 looked capable of filling in at full forward if Salmon was injured. Neither really lived up to their potential.

I had high hopes for Brad Plain.

Too young to remember him playing at all but know him now, awesome bloke

He wore long sleeves to cover his tatts. Fair to say he wouldn’t bother these days.

Plain was asked to do some pretty big jobs, like playing as a FF when he didn’t have the build for it, not being quite big enough. He was a HFF and should have been allowed to stay and play that role.

He was Toby-Greene-like when up and about

I remember Plain had a habit of bouncing the ball when walking back off the mark before lining up for a shot on goal. My high school mate was adamant that it should be play on and he could be tackled.

Cool story.

Bit going on in this clip. Shows ‘the bounce’ habit, Woosha tries to rip his head off… and the rare sight of a sleeveless jumper.

Bradley Plain was my hero in those days.

Just something about him.

Shame he was constantly injured!

There can be no Michael Werner thread after the blitz battle to end all battles in about 2003 that saw username Michael Werner and username…ummm, my memory is gone, being banned for life

Or something like that. One of the early blitzes can probably fill in the pieces and what their current handle is!!
