#26 Archer May (kick more than two goals)

The MSD draft picks turned up some serious competition for KPFs. Going forward it is going to be very interesting viewing in that part of the ground.

Conor McKenna running around in the VFL for Lions, scored a point.

QTR time

Could be the “Sugar” hit we need.

Archies, sugar, get it? Or all too young?

Keen to see what he brings but what were the knocks on the kid for never being drafted to begin with and having to do it the long way?

Having an association with Dermie!

you’re overusing the roll eyes emoji, BSD energy

It sounds like he had played his whole junior career as a ruckman.
But not seen tall enough for ruck at AFL level, so Dermott helped develop him into a forward, as there would be a better chance of being picked up that way.

 seems like a serious rebuke!

Yeah, but from barnz. You need rebukes from members who’ve got more than half a clue.

Looks like a lot of goals for a ruckman?

From listening to Dermie on the radio yesterday it sounds like he was a bit too heavy as a junior and couldn’t run out games .
He was apparently 100kg’s at 17 years old and struggled with his running.

He has now apparently lost around 8kg’s, hired one of the best running coaches in the country and now does his pre season drills with the midfielders because his tank has vastly improved.

I believe Houli is referring to junior career prior to u18’s.
At u18 level he was very much a forward, prior to that far fewer goals suggesting he was playing elsewhere (likely ruck).

Can confirm. Met him once at a work function and was a quality human being and great to have a chat with. Was really disappointing.

Well, me included, you won’t find many on blitz.

I am really looking forward to May playing, a huge lump at CHF is what we need, will make a few stand taller.

Seems like he’s our Patty Voss replacement

I can confirm Dermi is a terrific bloke. I lived in Port Melbourne with one of his best mates from Frankston. He is just down to earth and really good to be around.
I’ve had plenty of surfs with Demi too. He just loves to have a good time and always has plenty of time for anyone he talks to. All his old mates from franga that he talks about on SEN, are top blokes too.

Also fun fact about Dermie:

I remember in the mid 90s after he retired from AFL, he played a season or two for Frankston Bombers, where he donned the sash.
