Make it easy AFL, how about the same set of rules for all teams and players???
What the â â â â does this mean? Are umpires and officials now mathematicians?
Absolutely.
How about that Brisbane pillock throwing elbows and concussing Ridley Nothing to see here.
Sorry, canât agree with the hate for The Bont. He plays the game hard and fair, and if he is protected, thatâs on the Umps and the AwFuL, not him.
He is nothing like Selwood or Franklin, been protected all their careers and now snipping more as they are getting older. The AwFuL just keep enabling them, by turning a blind eye.
Yep agreed.
Daisy said similar on triple m too
Anyone listen to Bont on RSN? wasnt exactly doing Redman any favours in his assessment of the incident.
Iâm less confident they will appeal now, hope I am wrong. Itâs a football action and there wasnât any malice involved.
I thought Bontempelli was renowned for being able to stand up in tackles ? " Hes been slipping tackles all day. Heâs such a big strong guy"
I guess he is, except when he knows he will be pinged for HTB, incorrect disposal, because one arm is pinned, so he decides not to stand up in the tackle but go down, and see if he can get âin the backâ or dangerous tackle. Bingo.
The Bont is a very good footy player, and knows very well how to milk frees.
Edit. Instead of holding onto the ball, he needed to drop the ball and use the free arm to protect his head. But he decided not to do that. He contributed to having his own head hit the turf.
I have zero faith in the Board, Chairman or Executive to support the players, members and supporters, so I would be amazed if we appeal.
Spear tackles require lift.
Just sayinâ.
Probably will not take it to the tribunal. Firstly X is conflicted. He wants the AFL CEO job. Gillon will move on soon, and well, lets not make anyone on the AFL Commission angry !
We are very good boys now at Essendon, we want an AFLW team, we want a favourable âdrawâ we want to bury the saga in the past and show that we 100% toe the line.
Donât think much of the hate is for Bont. himself.
Did the â â â â even land on his head?
Silly me was going to argue the technical aspects further.
Like it matters.
Dont hate him at all, he is elite. But he certainly knows how to appeal for a free. Look at the Shiel tackle, Bontempelli know the ump was behind him, so at the instant the ball âfell out of his graspâ he raised one hand in the air, even before Shiel took him to ground.
Itâs a definite appeal situation.
For those interested hereâs the 2021 Tribunal Guidelines
Now the wording re dangerous tackles & High, Medium or Low impact is ambiguous to say the least.
The interesting bit is page 14
Examples are given of dangerous tackles in the various categories.
Of course some / many of these arenât available easily.
But check the Walker / Bonner tackle - Low impact - fine only.
That one alone is worse than Masonâs tackle.
Fine only.
Compare to the Murphy Cerra example for High Impact - suspension
Clearly worse than the Redman tackle.
Note these are the AFLâs own examples.
Knock yourself out.
Our footy dept leadership will just say yeh nah, its OK, Dodoro made sure we have lots of half back flankers, besides we have Heppel to come in, saves us having to drop one of the players from a winning team . Lets not rock the AFL boat with an appeal.
The tackle on Zerrett was far worse.
Two actions. Slinging. Head going bang.
Not that Iâd particularly want that to be a suspension, but if you were to pick a dangerous tackle from that game it Had to be that one.
Thatâs just smart football, I just wish our top players were afforded the same luxuries.
Contributing to a guy getting reported is something other than smart football.
