#27 Mason Redman - till end 2028

Saad was also our best one on one defender whilst leading the comp in running bounces. Footskills weren’t as bad as everyone likes to claim either.

His biggest problem was when the coach wanted to waste him in the back pocket he sooked it up a wee bit. Plus FARK carlton.

Getting the feeling he just might be offski from Tulla. Port are surely in his ear. His form over next few weeks will help clarify.

Wouldn’t be surprised if Port or Adel were offering him midfield time and/or to play further up the ground, he’s wasted at halfback imo.

Has anyone actually listened to the interview? He isn’t going anywhere.

I reckon his best spot is where he’s playing.

We’ll never know at bomberland but he certainly has the attributes to play other roles.

Agree. Redders is a tough and uncompromising HB, l get the feeling that he loves playing there, more than any other possible position. He is also able to drift forward and doesn’t mind the occasional long shot on goal. Not everyone needs to play in the midfield, but we do need a settled and stable back 6 defensive unit, and he is a key, integral component of that unit.

Have you seen him play another position ?

Nope. nor do l need to.
He might become a good midfielder, but he has all the attributes needed to become an elite HB. lt ain’t broken, so don’t try and fix it. Where he is now provides strength and balance to the defence, a move to the midfield would unsettle that as it means we would have to find someone else to replace him, and we don’t have a depth player who is as good. Moving him into the midfield would also mean less development/time for the young midfielders we already have.

I didn’t mind Saad as a defender. Thought he did some really good things. But he could never be a pure lockdown small defender. But with what he offers offensively you wouldn’t want him to be.

The one ■■■■■ in his armour is he doesn’t do well over contested ground balls.
I can’t see how midfield would work.

Isn’t that what Dodo and Rutten thought about Mcgrath?

Agree that it is just your opinion that is not based on fact.

Would love him to stay. Not the end of the world if he left.

Everyone is replaceable.

Of course it is opinion based on observation, and not backed by any facts. Facts? Ha! There are very few facts that surface to see the light of day on BBlitz, and half of those that do are inconvenient ones.

Port aren’t interested from what I hear. Port are ok in that area of the ground and need to fix other key areas of the ground. Crows are the only ones and they have a massive desire to bring in him and would fit them perfectly. Mason will get a very good pay day and stay with us IMO

You mean like forward and wing in his early years at the club? Before they settled him into the half back line and he started actually showing he could become a great player

How many players do you think can fit in the midfield?

And why do people have this weird belief that being one of the top few back flankers in the game is worse than being a middling midfielder?

I’ve never seen a premiership won by a club with no backline

Like the recent players that left the Bombers, Daniher, Saad, Crameri, Hibberd, Carlisle, Francis, Redman is going home to Millicent. Nothing surer. Commuting 400 km each way to Adelaide, spending 9 hours driving each day? No problem. Going home and listening to your Dad suggesting you get out there and mow the lawns , or your Mum telling you to tidy your room? No problem.
