exactly.700-800k should be the bare mininum for redman, not “overs”
Which is helpful, but given the player contracts can include backloading, front loading, flattening out, some players being overpaid and some players being underpaid it still allows for assumptions and guess work.
Tbh I think to determine how much Redman should be paid we would need to know how much other players at Essendon are paid, which we don’t.
I agree that 650-700 seems about right at a guess.
I would agree. 650k to 700k seems about right.
As others have said, it’s probably more about contract length
Yes, because we should base all our player salaries on one specific opposition player that is being completely overpaid………
That said I wouldn’t be against giving him 700-750. Wouldn’t be too keen going higher than that.
I’d offer him $700k on a 5 year contract with a trigger for a further 2.
theres a whole list of players being paid more but less good than maso
I think what Redman uniquely offers us, is his attack on the ball from defence; both his ability to make coverage and kick from outside the 50m arc. If he were to go back home hypothetically, the previous losses of Saad and McKenna make this area of his game harder to replace based on whom is currently available on our list.
We should remunerate him fairly based on what he offers the club and look to build some resilience in this area of our list, regardless of whether he stays or goes.
He is a far better player than Saad and it would probably hurt us more to lose him than Parish.
The only saving grace would be Cox coming good and playing the same position, but appears uncertain and probably a while off even if it were to happen.
We lost Saad,McKenna
Redman is the only good reboubing defender we have left i would argue hes better than both cant afford to lose him.
I think if he stays he will only sign for 2 years which will take him up to being a FA where he has even more bargaining power.
Stop saying this. No one wants him to leave
McGrath is a pretty handy rebounding defender; he’s as good as Redman IMO
A few on here saying he can leave if he wants 800k
Maybe that’s the stand off, as it puts us in a weaker position in two years. Everyone is assuming he wants longer than we’re prepared to offer, maybe it’s the opposite.
Even better that we keep Redman to complement McGrath
Crows can have Massimo
I assume you mean an unrestricted free agent, as he’s already a free agent this year.
I think he’ll sign a big, long term deal now. Best chance he’s got for a big (deserved) payday.
what I appreciate most about Blitz is that we don’t allow the media to set the agenda
Hes a RFA this year.
A FA or more accurately a UFA can go wherever they like with no restrictions.
Maybe it was lazy to use FA but its pretty obvious what it means.
Pretty sure that’s what his manager will be advising.
