#27 Mason Redman - till end 2028

In this country, we call it crayfish.

Redmond’s National Combine Results:

20 m sprint: 3.06 (42nd percentile)
Beep: 14.1 (61st percentile)
Agility: 8.33 (79th percentile)
3km: 10.12 (87th percentile)
Repeat Sprints: 26.11 (26th percentile)

EmmaQ thinks he’s tough.

How many Goddards?

How many Jack Gunston types?

Mason could end up being the big surprise packet for us. Very versatile, can play as a rebounding defender or a lead up HF, can also play in the midfield for bursts. Pretty good skills but needs to beef up a bit as he is a tad slight.

Nice long kick.

To be fair - there’s only 1 or 2 draftees who are not ‘a bit slight’, since they are 17/18 year olds.

Looks like he has really good hands overhead, which is a nice attribute to tie in with the ability to run all day.

His dad should have invested in a garmin GPS watch and saved some petrol.

Models his game on Beej. Welcome to the Bombers, Mason.

Points well then??

Going to be finger pointing galore next year.

The only pick I am not convinced about. I know one of the phantoms had us taking him so the pick is about where it is supposed to be. Just the tall skinny kid thing doesnt inspire confidence. I get that he is supposed to be a mobile forward and we believe Langford’s future lies in the middle but feels too short for that role and too skinny for the middle.

I know nothing whatsoever but for me, he needs a couple of solid tricks. Hopefully he has them

His trick is to be tough, allusive and damaging by foot allegedly.

And has an immaculate sock drawer.

How does that work? He wins his own ball then proceeds to engage the opposition in conversation by saying "it's possible that a team mate of mine who is partial to pointing may end up getting a rather pleasant surprise soon" and before the opposition has worked out what's going on he's already hit BJ with a bullet pass?

or he just meant elusive

Nah the first one.

Sounds like a replacement for Stanton in waiting.

Sounds like keiren sporn.

I doubt he’ll be a third tall. He’s more like an aggressive Monfries, who will eventually get into the team (probably) playing on a forward flank but I think like Laverde will, he’ll graduate to the midfield after a couple of years. At underage level he plays a pretty tough style, so while he could be suited to play on a wing with his pace, he might be more useful as an inside/outside mid.

He and Morgan weren’t necessarily obvious picks, but they’re exciting because they both have a lot of upside if they work out.
