#27 Mason Redman - till end 2028

Wait, f.a.r.t is censored!?

What a load of faecal waste.

Mason hightailed it to the convention centre and was there within 20 mins of his name being called out. A very eager young man.

The Dons used their Jake Melksham pick (30) on Mason Redman, who was up at 7am on draft day fartlek running and rated by one club as a top-10 talent.

Let’s hope it wasn’t Glenelg

Whatever happens with these draftees from here on in you gotta share some of that excitement that they are experiencing right now.

The kid is going to get there on workrate alone. Very few come in with such professionalism already instilled as juniors.

It could only have been Geelong that rated him that highly since everyone else had a chance but didn’t pick him. And what is a fartlek?

A favorite South Australian pastime.

Geelong, Collingwood, Sydney, and Port Adelaide didn’t have a pick before he was taken, and GWS’ only usable pick was used to match an academy bid. On top of that technically Melbourne and Brisbane could have rated him top 10 but not as high as 2, 4, and 9.

swedish interval training, apparently

Thanks all for the info.

a couple more I found floating around on BF if anyone is interested…

Pick 33 – Collingwood: Mason Redman – UTIL (186 cm, 77 kg, Glenelg)

Mason Redman is a ripper, quite simply. Just a natural footballer who’ll thrive wherever he goes. Excels in IQ related areas, with his composure, positioning, poise and running patterns elite. He runs and carries and is also solid overhead. When forward, he just keeps getting into really dangerous positions and makes things happen.

33 Collingwood - Mason Redman ( Glenelg / 187cm / 76kg)

Exciting type who is another of those in vogue medium forwards / wings / defenders. Has what a lot of things recruiters want good of speed, takes a nice mark, attacks the footy well and good lateral movement and knows how to kick a goal and at his best is a terrific player to watch. He is a beaut ball user and he can run all day. Hasn’t got any obvious weakness and that flexibility in where he can play will draw clubs to him.

Oh good, looks like I was right. Imagine waiting for your first pick at 33 and getting a “top ten” guy you targeted sniped just before you went.

I feel really really sorry for any club that happens to…

A Dalek subsisting on vegetable soup.

Anyway, onto important things. His nickname's gotta be "Black'n'"

Richard

Ray.

I'm with AB here. Can't really see what job he does in the AFL, purely based on his junior career and how he's described. My research on him is immaculate, honestly spotless.

Wait and see.

He will turn out fine IMO, have heard a lot of good stuff about him. One of his coaches at Glenelg was full of praise for him.

Has an incredible work rate and commitment to getting better apparently.

Very determined and dedicated young man by the sounds of things who is hell bent on getting the absolute best out of himself.

And THAT is quite often what gets you there.
The draftees are all talented, one of the defining factors is how they cope above the shoulders.

Absolutely, the most important part. That we all overlook far too often

Red Man Group

I hope we get Method Man in the rookie draft today.

SA only produce rangas these days?

I went to the champs game Vic metro vs S.A at etihad earlier in the year.
I was keeping an eye on all the hyped up players re Francis, Milera and Balic but one kid kept on taking marks and dominating in the forward line. That was Redman and I thought he was bog that game. I kept saying to the nephew “geez there he is again.”
Very happy to pick him up and I thought the description by someone earlier of an aggressive Monfries was pretty good.
