Cal Twomey says in this article that Cahill is one of the 10 first year draftees ready to go in 2020.
Yeah I read this article and kind of thought Cal maybe put that in for the fans above anything else, but I hope there’s something in this. We certainly need quality small forward depth as we were tested last season.
It’d be a real turnup if he could get in there for some games.
Hopefully has a fair bit of competition with Snelling, Fanta, Tippa & Mossie all looking like hitting round 1 in good shape.
Big ask to break into a side with Walla and Fantasia as the two small forwards.
He hasn’t really been highlighted by training reports or any media outlets reporting on the preseason.
I’m pretty interested to see what this kid can do though.

In 2017, at played best, we played 3 small forwards - Walla, Fantasia and Josh Green. No problem with Cahill debuting as a 3rd small in 2020.
The 3 talls I would go with in Round 1 would be Bellchambers, McKernan and Stringer.

Media report must be bullshit
I like him a lot from the little I have seen and expect he will develop into the exact type of player Rutten requires but he still will need to get past Snelling who has runs already.
Not sure whether Smith changes things but if we require another small forward it’s probably Snelling, Cahill then Mozzie. Laverde and Townsend are the others along with Smith that may prevent a spot for a third small forward.
Worth noting that Cahill was drafted as a forward, Snelling wasn’t.
Caracella will probably want a “Lambert” type and both these two would seem the best fit for that role imo (Assuming Dev is played as a genuine midfielder of course.
Seeing as no one has even kicked a ball in anger yet, it’s hard to say who is in front of anyone
