Think he lined up on the HBF ANZAZ day? Ridiculous.

When the entire structure and running patterns are junk and disintegrate, the guys that are largely about unrewarded running will be even more unseen. And that is even without shifting his position.

He was terrible ANZAC Day and I’m a fan of him.
Would it hurt Brad to leave a natural winger on the actual wing?
Why are we always trying to shuffle players around and fit them in where they aren’t suited. Surely you set up your team with the cornerstones who play well in that position and then you move others around to fit in.
He has been given the absolute run around this year by Brad

Agree entirely.

Duursma should be penned in on one wing. His defensive running in his first season with us was noticeable. And without Martin for 18 months , and with Clarke also injured, this should be a no brainer.

It is seriously beyond a joke how we keep players out of position.

He definitely started on the bench. ADW and Edwards were the wings for the first two centre bounces. He came on after the second bounce during play and because Reid was late coming on (when the third centre bounce was occurring), Duursma went to the backline and Reid came off the wing and they shortly switched after the bounce.

I’m pretty sure we prioritised Duursma as a wing for the rest of the day. I recall Edwards on one wing, Langford maybe took one or two centre bounces on the wing, but Langford was predominantly back then pushed forward late. It’s tough to tell where Duursma went whilst the play was in motion. The way the Pies used their wings was tough to keep track of unless you actually intently watch it. ICollingwood’s half back line pushed up to the half forward line quite a bit (they had the ball in their forward half more than us, so this is a given) and the half forward line would push up to the half back line too when needed. Because of those movements, any forward / wing / back group needs to communicate to decide who holds their width with the forward run and who stays back to defend should there be a turnover. And that’s where Duursma’s opponent probably changed during play and you couldn’t tell where he was playing.

The ball was in their forwardline more than ours, so it’s a given he would have gotten most of his possessions backwards of centre.

Same for just about every other player in the team.

Yes you’re right, I remember now. Was def at HB when he came on then.

A VERY large gap between Duursma’s best and worst. He hasn’t set the world on fire for me this year, though I suspect he is a 2026 version of Brilliant Brad’s cunning ā€œLet’s Take A Player Who Is Good In A Position And Play Them Anywhere Butā€ plan.

He was terrible on ANZAC day.

He looks like his is playing injured to me. Looks very heavy accross the ground and is struggling with ground balls.

Some of his kicks have been shockers as well.

For a guy who’s in the team mainly because of effort and courageousness - his past few weeks have been appalling.

He is a very average AFL footballer

He’s another who has dropped off badly. I’m a fan, but this year, and the last few weeks particularly, he’s been fumbly and tentative. He looks confused to me, and you wouldn’t blame him for that.

I’m prepared to give him a couple of games before declaring him as being Essingtoned.

This guy is one of my favourite players. I’m talking about the way he goes about it. He puts his body on the line and hits every contest at 100%. He is actually more brave for his own good. I noticed today at least 3 times when he was tackled he got hammered and seeing his head hit the ground he just gets straight up. Had a pretty good game considering he only played 66% of game time.
