Kax Mondogiannis
I heard he sells Kondo’s on the Gold coast.
Maximum little john gonna fk yas up
I like his numbers, pace and endurance. Worth a shot
He looks remarkably similar to Rids. Perhaps a bit quicker/more adventurous and without the laser boot.
Number 14 too.
Thick strong Neck.
But pleasingly he has De Cecco hamstrings and not Zaferelli spaghetti ones
Do his folks own a fish and chip shop?
Assuming he’s a Laverde replacement and a possible replacement for a guy like Prior.
Sounds essentially like a cheaper version of the position X Taylor would have played if we’d selected him.
Rosa said The Greek Freak is an intercepting rebounding defender with a great kick.
Let’s hope he is right.
INTERCEPT MARK KONDOGIANNIS
Could it also be “Little John” as per the legends of Robin Hood?
I think this condompijamas kid has a lot of potential
M Kondo- may he spark joy.
Hi Max! Welcome to Essendon ![]()
I’ll be cheering for you when you debut.

Essendon has pounced on 190cm talent Max Kondogiannis with pick No.36 in the 2025 Telstra AFL Draft.
A rangy aerialist equipping plenty of speed to go with his size, Kondogiannis has been earmarked by pundits and recruiters as a promising defender who can play on talls and smalls alike.
His athletic traits were clear to see at the Combine, clocking an impressive 6:26 time for the two-kilometre time trial and 2.94 seconds for the 20-metre sprint.
Precise kicking under pressure and courageous plays from dangerous areas of defence stood out during his top-age campaign, where he captained Carey Grammar and averaged nearly 19 touches per game for Vic Metro and the Oakleigh Chargers.
Kondogiannis was moved forward to good effect on occasion at Carey, but the majority of his footy has been played as a roaming third defender who can impact with his intercept game and pace when kickstarting attack from half back.
The 18-year-old joins fellow draftees Sullivan Robey, Jacob Farrow and Dyson Sharp in the Club’s class of 2025.
Reads well in the HeraldSun writeup:
Pick 36 Essendon: Max Kondogiannis
The Dons have grabbed defender Max Kondogiannis with the last pick of round two.
Kondogiannis improved his draft standing with a strong national championships campaign for Vic Metro, where his intercept game, athleticism, overhead marking and precise kicking were prominent.
The Oakleigh Chargers defender ranked second at the carnival for intercept possessions and intercept marks – behind only top prospect Harry Dean. Kondogiannis also has excellent decision making, both in the air when coming off his opponent and with ball in hand.
These write ups make every player sound like they should have been pick 1.
190 cm can play on talls or smalls
Now where have I heard that before ..mmmm
