#3 Darcy Parish - signed to 2029 (Part 3, from April 2025)

He should be held to the same standard Tsatas is by Scott.

Apart from 1 season, he has always been like this. Gets heaps of the balls, but no defensive side to his game once the ball his congestion and a poor kick going forward

He should of been made to earn a spot through strong VFL performances(like the kids are). But nope, straight back in after 2 average VFL games

I don’t think he is in our best midfield mix anymore. If anything, i think he throws off the balance of the group

I think Tsatas should be given a better go, undoubtedly.

please.

Who would you rather watch kicking clangers:

  • Durham, playing like a maniac
  • Parish, as cool as ice
  • Tsatas, with many more years of clangers ahead of him

Feels a little selective to single out parish for poor ball use

no thank you

I hear what your saying. Lets hope he can improve his kicking as he gets a bit of confidence back.

Pressure acts is one the stupidest measures in the afl

Why?

Because of the things that make up a pressure act, some are obvious like making contact that affects a disposal that’s fine, but others are ridiculous like the corralling closing chasing and implied, for example if a player chases a player and the player disposing slows to take a kick and the player behind makes ground that counts

Yes, chasing a player is a pressure act, obviously. Do you not see the value in a player chasing his opponent compared to just standing still?

That’s just being stupid saying that, what iam saying is there’s no difference in the stat measurement between a chase like Perkins did on dale a few weeks ago where he was never even trying but makes a slight bit of ground because dale slows and walla running a bloke down or rushing them to kick.
The pressure act stat overall is junk without the breakdown of it

If you are just jogging after a player instead of sprinting, does that count as a pressure act?

If you make ground on the player kicking it is counted

Champion Data define it as “They must be gaining ground or applying pressure significant enough to hurry the ball carrier to dispose of the ball”

Does the hurry the ball carrier part apply to gaining ground?

Whether it is or isn’t it’s the same for every player so if Parish has more pressure acts then another player it’s a fair way to judge how much pressure he is putting on the opposition. There is no more accurate breakdown available for us to use.

Tackles in which he had two is a good measure

I was just asking a question in how a pressure act is recorded

I don’t even think tackles are a great measure.

Like most stats, they show indications but not every tackle is equal. Far from it

You can’t look at that game last night and say that parish had a equal effect on the opposition as setterfield despite the fact that both were on 24 pressure acts
