#3 Darcy Parish - signed to 2029 (Part 3, from April 2025)

The big question is will he come good again before he reinjures ? A matter of time for one or the other.

modern game has gone past him especially with our slow midfield

It’s the easiest, no brainer, trade we can make this year.

  • 27 yo
  • top 5 pick
  • Former All Australian
  • Capable of more at a better side

If the Dogs can trade McCrae, we can trade Parish. It’s a big litmus test for me to see how Rosa and co manage it.

McCrae wasn’t contracted a lot hard to do with Parish. Cant see many clubs wanting him and his inflated contract.

So we use our salary cap to pay the majority of his contract.

Agree but not sure clubs will be interested. A 27 year old that’s injury prone will be a turn off.

Would you want Parish if you were an opposition club? I wouldn’t.

He had 5 total turnovers, so none of his handballs were turnovers?

So why would you want him at your own club?

More than happy to off load him I just think we are stuck with him now our chance was when he was a FA to cash in too late now.

No

He loves a 1m handball to a guy who rightly doesn’t expect it and then gets swarmed.

Doesn’t go as a turnover against Darcy but it should

He was the least of our worries tonight imo and his kicking looked better than last week, albeit he didn’t kick it much at all.
I thought Darc, Setters and Calders contested well on the inside. We won the clearances and contested ball which is opposite to what we usually do against the Cats.
We got killed on turnover, like properly killed - especially from our defensive half and that was the why we got flogged.
From my eye, Darcy’s 5 turnovers weren’t in the same league as the turnovers we did coming out of defense so not sure why the pile on again?

And this weekly “we should trade him” talk just makes u all sound like inbeciles who can’t provide any meaningful contribution to a discussion…It’s his 2nd game of the year, he is contracted, it appears the coaches rate him highly and trade week isn’t for another 6 months.

Would love to hear some thoughts on how our mids could have controlled Smith and Holmes better, or how they could setup clearances or our zone defense better.

The dogs would take him in a heartbeat. Might actually be a good estimation club for him.

Smuggle Flunitrazepam into their water bottle.

Problem is he wants to kick not handball. He thinks he is a run and kick player like a Dangerfield, when he is more like Tom Liberatore. I think it is an ego thing, just gives the feeling that he thinks he is better than what he is………gives absolutely nothing in a leadership sense and generally only runs one way

How he has been brought back into the team, and tsatas is constantly left out is classic Brad Scott

Everything people criticise Tsatas for, Parish is just as bad at

I can’t speak for everyone, but I don’t want to trade him because he’s bad. I want to trade him because we have too many players on our list who can only play inside mid, and he actually may have some trade value.

Yep, there’ll have to be some calculations at season end by the list management team about whether Parish suits the timeline and retooling of this list. He’s a very good AFL player when fit and inform, but if our timeline to being very good is now hinging on the last two drafts and what we do in the next couple, then it might be a win/win situation to find him a new club and give the midfield game time to Tsatas , Clarke, Johnson etc.

Time will tell, but this is a new regime so I think they’ll change things up in terms of trading mentality.

Thought he was pretty terrible again yesterday, but I will say that I did notice him busting his ass many times to chase hard defensively.

Thats about the only positive for his game yesterday though.
Looks very panicky with the ball which is very unusual for him, and he actually looks like he has dropped a significant amount of weight, which may help with the injuries but takes away from his contested strength.
He looks significantly smaller this year than the last couple.

Someone needs to be punted from this midfield of ball butcherers.

Caldwell
