#3 Darcy Parish - signed to 2029 (Part 3, from April 2025)

The club doesn’t have the cajones but the correct decision with mature underage performers is to play them in the reserves until they improve, request a trade, or can stop gap while a kid is injured or out of form.

Parish, along with plenty of others, is on this boat. No, we’re not gonna do what needs to be done.

This is who Parish has always been, even when he was a Blitz favourite.

I am still backing him in though

Contracted to 2029, let that sink in.

No wonder Tsatas can’t get a look in.

I’d put Rish and Rash up for trades at years end

Game has changed since Darcy had his one elite season.

You cannot carry midfielders with questionable disposal.

His highlights are up if anyone wanted to check out his turnovers.

One was a missed shot on goal, another was a clearance where he somehow got his foot on the ball as he was being slung tackled, and a 3rd was a kick on his left up the line which was intercepted by the spare man.

In a night where turnovers were our biggest problem, Darcy really wasn’tan offender.

There’s some up there because Martin only got one CBA last night yet Perkins gets five in a quarter so Fark knows what Brad was thinking

Darcy is currently at 25 percent kicking efficiency, the supposed worse butcher this team has seen since its inception is at 47 percent

Its a fair point and was def his main negative last week imo… But hes played two games and primarily has been handballing, so its a small sample size.

In regard to this week he only had 8 kicks and due to how well Geelong set up the field, most were to a contest. They are on the AFL app if you want, it will take u 5 mins to look.
With how bad others were turning it over, i would be directing blame elsewhere in regard to turnovers.

I wasn’t directing blame I was just highlighting that the current stats

We’d get get 2nd round picks at best and we’d have to pay half their salary…

I’d do it in a heartbeat

He doesn’t bring anything else that we can’t get for half of what we are paying him

After rewatching the replay I’d drop him for Tsatas.

If it’s good enough for Elijah to be held to a high standard it should be for Darcy. No excuse for the repeat hand passes 1-2 meters putting a team mate under pressure. If he can’t help extract it cleanly as an in and under player he has little value

6 year contract lol

LOL, I see David King has described both Petracca and Clayton Oliver as professional slaughtermen, whose kicking efficiency in the last game were in the the low 20s, kicking inside 50

I guess that sort of performance plus the drop off in form of Fritsch, the failure of Van Rooyen to improve much have seriously set Melbourne back

I have no sympathy for Melbourne, they had the choice, they could have taken Darcy, we would probably now be saddled with a very compromised Oliver on a long contract. Having Oliver during his best years would not have improved us enough to win a final anyway.

Over the last few years, when he has played, it just seems the midfield functions better without him. It may be as a group they need continuity with him, or it may be the midfield does function better without him.

Blitz tells me 3 of those are A graders. Plus Merrett.
