#30 - Nate Caddy - thru 2028

I’m refusing to get sucked into Blitz hype.
I’ve been let down time after time.

Johns
Prismall
Gumby
Kav
Anthony Long
Jake Long
Tstatas
The Royal Box

All of whom were our saviours according to you.

A serious question-
Why did the Cats overlook him and trade out of their pick, choosing to go for Connor O’Sullivan?
I’ve monitored this kid from afar, 1 game only to date.
Why o why?

He has the missing half of Austin Lucy’s arms and hands.

Whenever I see this bumped, I just assume he is injured.

#Essington

Nah, he’s not injured. Blitzers are just saying he’s endowed with an enormous pianist and that its very easy for him to visually count up to 10,. Err, make that 11 and 3/4.

So he’s done his groin?

It is pretty plain to see what we have here, but wait if you will

I’ve seen nothing but potential.

Francis showed potential, as did Laycock. I hope he is the next James Hird, but we won’t know until he does it.

Barring injury, he’s going to be a very good player.
The way he moves and floats thru the air, he’ll be a nightmare match for defenders.

Will he reach Charlie Curnow or Jeremy Cameron levels ?..who knows.
I have no doubt there is a top level forward there in a few years.

Not saying he won’t, just saying it’s too early to know.

Nothing is 100%

I remember yesterday morning it was too early to know for sure if I was going to enjoy my lunch. I mean it had potential, don’t get me wrong, but I just couldn’t look forward to it, because it was just…too early to tell.

I can’t have my heart broken again.

It’ll be interesting to see whether the state of our forward line adds to his development or compromises it. Initially the thought would have been he can learn his craft as a third forward behind the likes of an inform wright, stringer. Langford which reduced the focus and reliance on him to perform. Now stringer is gone, wright might be just depth so it puts a lot more focus on him.

Time will tell whether that is a good thing for his development or a bad thing. If he is a main target forward he will get the best defenders on him which could ruin his confidence. Just a question of what environment he thrives in.

As l had seen it in advance I knew yesterday that today’s lunch would be enjoyable, l just had to wait to eat it. Make of that what you will.

Got to give him time and space to develop. He is still 3 years away from the finished product. And I hope its great.

It’s going to be a glorious 3 years though…

Nate Caddy’s rise will come at the same time as the team’s. It will be a chicken/egg thing.

Hasn’t anyone learnt about “getting your hopes up” yet. 20 years of it might be long enough!

I hope he’s not the main tall forward target in 25 - it wont help his development.
Think he should be the 3rd tall at this stage - behind 2MP/Draper and Langford (who is more a medium/tall anyway)

There needs to be an actual forward line system, something we haven’t had since 2017, and which only lasted a season, but there needs to be clearly defined roles, and an understanding built between the players. It’s like every time we go into a season, it feels as if the hard drive of a CPU has been wiped and there is no memory from the previous year. Nate just has to compete, work hard and be an option that presents at the football.

Also, someone needs to work on his kicking technique, especially his grip/ball drop.

The biggest sobering affect on my soaring optimism is that Geelong, a club who makes very few mistakes, passed on him. For an extra pick, yes, but they still passed on him.
