Caydn Beetle (2000-2002) (St. Kilda)
Frankly I’m shocked Voss didn’t go at number 1.
Not really sure what point that makes. At the same age JUH averaged 2.7 to Caddy’s 1.4, then Caddy improved in his 18th year while JUH didn’t play because 2020.
I don’t like the idea of playing 2 talls + Langford and Stringer in the one forward line. Especially if we’re also playing 2 rucks. I could live with it if we’re playing 1 ruck and one of the talls (eg. 2MP) is the second ruck
I studied Machiavelli at uni.
He talked a good game, but failed at pretty much everything when he tried to actually DO what he preached. He wrote The Prince from a farmhouse he was exiled to after backing the wrong horse in some sort of political wrangle, as a gift for the new boss, trying to flatter his way back into their good books.
In the future, people will study Dodoro at uni…
IMO it’s 2 Genuine Talls, 2 Mid sized and 2 small/pressure forwards.
Caddy for a mid size forward is very good on the ground.
We have lot’s of players in the mix. A second ruck does change things that’s for sure.

the size and shape of the personnel is completely irrelevant if we keep on insisting they’re all positioned within 30 feet of each other, and take 7-10 kicks to get there from half back

That would work better if the medium talls are fitter than Stringer usually is. Defensively he’s no better than a genuine tall

“Ever been connected to North Melbourne? Ever barracked for them? Thought about barracking for them? Hmmm… ever driven through North Melbourne? Huh… you have… Good enough!!!”
Bloke at my work(coll supporter yuck) is also mates with the caddys especially his dad. All he said is we have a freaking good player on our hands
The limited defensive pressure that is put on by our midsize and tall forwards is a concern. I think we need to play Gresh and Menzie (or a Davey) next year for balance. If Stringer and Perkins play in the forward line it’s even more critical as defensive pressure is not something they are known for. Love to see Caddy play some games when stringer is unavailable.

What about our leading goal scorer for 2023: Langford?
He could be the Big Bodied Mid we’ve been looking for all this time!
A good point . I had forgotten
As much as I love Stringer he throws us out of balance. Not tall or good enough overhead to be an aerial presence. Not quick or fit enough for defensive pressure. Neither a tall nor small, but brilliant when fit
Agree Gresham and Menzie must play for pressure considering Lang and 2MP are definite starters. I’d be inclined to start prioritizing Perkins over Stringer and ensuring the forward rotation can run, chase and tackle (caldwell, hobbs, davey etc).
Stringer will likely be off the list after this year.
I agree, I really hope we don’t do the same as last year. Played him too often when he just couldn’t run. When fit he can at least run to a defensive position and is not a liability when the opposition have it. We all know what he can do with ball in hand when up and running.
Blonde!
Guelfi has some serious competition in that department. In addition, Guelf probably needs to seriously concentrate on playing footy.
Stringer is one of our most exciting players, but please! Play this kid if theres any doubt about Stringers fitness.
What if he has a good year?
