#30 - Nate Caddy

“Look here Nate, big grabs and snags are ok but we want to see heaps more running to nowhere and great gps numbers. Goals aren’t that important, 1 every 9 weeks is sufficient”

Reckon he will play against the saints. And rest him against the felines

Play him both games as the litmus test against men.

I agree 100%. But they won’t do that

Yeah, play him now, so he can pick up a season-ending injury, like so many others before him…

Normally get them in the 2’s when they should have been playing 1’s. Drapes.

After all of the online supporter hysteria over josh caddy(and how he allegedly may have snubbed us).

I feel on the caddy chase a little schadenfreude at richmond and geelong.

(Ok they both got multiple premierships but im going for the little wins)

C’mon.
A great player harboured in the VFL is safe, but that is not what great players are meant for.

So you reckon he’s AFL match-fit and ready to start out at the top level ?

Didn’t realise he took it over Harry O’Brien.

I think you mean the Prince, who is blessed

Well, folks are convinced now that Martin is destined to be one of the 6 defenders on the field at all times. I am not yet convinced and I will not be convinced until I see it in an AFL game.
Its my belief he is training to be able to play as the +1 player at the times we elect to run with one.

Remember when BJ played that role? The 6 defenders are forced to play a more accountable role while the +1 has to have great vision, poise , very good disposal and good overhead skills. Heppel was a player who could play that role, but he is to slow for the modern game, and BJ was slow in his last season also.

Herald Sun is on to Caddy. Fark. Talking about Caddy hype etc. There is nothing I hate than that bullsh_te.

Leave the kid alone.

I live in an information vacuum and am dependent on each morsel of information I can gleam off Blitz or even, the club website.

Is Nate Caddy AFL match fit and ready to start at the top level?

I’ve got no idea. But I do wonder if Magpie supporters were asking themselves this very same question about (the then 183cm 72kg) Nick Daicos before round 1 of the 2022 season.

Need to compare Caddy due more KPP debutants - Luke Jackson - was a freak from the get go. jack Darling pretty much straight in, but was built like a man. Hurley quelled Treadrea when he was one of the best forwards in the league.

Caddy could definety play round 1 if we need him.
Last year Phillipou (pick 10) debuted round 1, more of a Hybrid fwd/mid.

most of last years round 1 debuts are midfield types.

For us it will likely be more about team balance.

Draper, Stringer are a chance to play round 1.
Langford, Wright, Jones are all fit.

He needs to be good enough to push Jones and maybe another out, or Draper/Stringer not be ready.

Caddy finished ok in the 2km trial, not too worried about fitness, it takes matches to build match conditioning. after a season or two he might even be spending burst time in the midfield like Stringer to win clearances.

In 2022 we debuted Kaine Baldwin rd 1 and he was far from AFL ready as a forward also Debuted Nick Martin. Tex Wanganeen debuted in round 2. Hobbs in round 5, D’Ambrosio & Menzie. Rutten gave the kids games that year we had 7 debutants. third highest of the league.although one of them was Lord and he didn’t actually make it on the field,

In 2023 we had 2 Debuts
Davey & Tsatas

I/C round 1 for me

Kid has massive energy but his ethics around busting his gut is worthy of selection let alone his talent

Like. But he starts for mine all going well. Can have spell or 2 on the bench. Even sub later if rquired. The 2 praccies will tell us.

Heppell is not a good enough kick to play that role well.

Not a bad comparison, if I remember correctly BJ was big on training at 100% all the time. Seems Caddy has that trait from training reports.
