I don’t care what he gets paid.

He’s trash and would be given the flick if we were serious.

“It’s a Brad Scott issue not a Ben McKay issue”.

Brad. “ Come over to the bombers lad, easy coin to be made”.

Both McKays seem to be emotional types. I don’t get the constant hate either but when you come on that sort of coin that is well reported you have to acknowledge there is certain expectations that come with that contract regardless how front ended it is.

Has he been worth it? No, but he also doesn’t deserve the hate he gets. I really feel the coach has some responsibility because as he said himself he’s not a big believer in confidence and Benny seems to be the type of player that needs some reassurance from the coach to have that confidence. Is he getting that from Brad I’m not so sure.

Edit: Also your point on being a defender in our system is bang on, it would be horrendous and you’d be unbelievably nervous going into any game let alone a game against the Dogs.

It’s not hate ..
It’s just real hang ya head disappointment.

I (and plenty others on here I suspect) thought he’d be a leader across the FB line, marshalling the others, keeping closer to his match up and not being led upfield and exposing himself and the rest, as the oppo mids attacked and bypassed. But at times he looks clueless.

We thought he wouldn’t handball in panic but take the contact and draw the pressure for others to get the ball out and moving back our way. Or maybe even kick with decent accuracy and distance.

He’s physically big, paid well and been supported by Scott etc al .. and I suppose he’s put the very odd good game in. But I hoped he’d be a bit of a colossus back there for us. For a team that’s lost its way and defensively frail.

But he just isn’t.

He’s done a lot of work to get his body right.

Next off-season he needs to put work in to his brain.

Beveridge would send McKay to reserves until he met professional expectations afl player even if that meant never playing again

He is a much better Mark than his brother

Two shocking kicks aside, that was a really strong, mature game, it should be the minimum standard, but credit where credits due.

yep didnt’ drop his head this time, after those mistakes, like wright, probably his best game for the club, simply for not wilting under the pressure of bad mistakes, and just kept turning up to each contest and giving it his best.

Yeah definitely his best game for the season, both defensively and also in intercepting and getting the footy. Despite that calamitous turnover he more than did his job today.

Another good game. I don’t think he’s been beaten this year

That turnover was awful but otherwise I thought he was fantastic.

Yep. He would not have wanted us to lose by less than a goal.
