Might as well have one last look at him.
Nah, what is going to change? His spot is already taken by a short Lebanese kid.
I think youāre confusing Gresham with Kako
No I was talking spot on the list, but for spot in the side you are 100% correct.
I think thereās zero chance that weāll move on both Davey and Gresham, otherwise weād go into. Dreamtime at the G game with literally zero indigenous players in the list, and even this club admin might find that embarrassing.
Gresham is safe for a long time yet, I suspect.
Daveyās finished. Doesnāt go near it. Soft.
I think Gresham will survive, although I am hoping FC come calling. There have been number of Dreamtime games where we have not had an indigenous player in our side.
I donāt think weāve ever played a Dreamtime game with no indigenous players have we? I certainly canāt think of one, although I might well be wrong.
The only one was with Wanganeen as the Sub
Yeah, weāve always been careful to field Wanganeen or Davey or Gresham or someone regardless of form, and we were pretty lucky with Tippaās consistent availability for a while there. Tigers have done similar things. If either of the two sides at the big Dreamtime game fielded an entirely non-indigenous side, I think itād be a pretty big embarrassment and might call into question the long term viability of that particular fixture (Dreamtime round would still go ahead, but maybe without ESS/Rich as centrepiece)
I stand corrected. The one thing I will say is that until recently we did not have enough indigenous players on our list. I love watching the indigenous players as the provide speed skill and x factor. I think we have started to address this but i would still like to see more given a go,
And doesnāt Essendon perform the centrepiece role so well.
Iām personally not one who gets too caught up about what ethnic background our players have but how have we really started to address this recently? We only have two blokes on the whole list right now who are indigenous and one is about to be rissoled at yearās end?!
We even had more about 4-5 years ago when we had Tippa, Irving Mosquito, Lachie Johnson, Cody Brand & Josh Eyre on the list. Sure basically only one of them was ever good enough to play in the seniors but we had them on the list.
Weāve been playing a lot of new players this year. ADJ should get a game or two. He hasnāt done much in past years, but heās had a fair few score involvements. Heās bigger, stronger and fitter now and doesnāt look like a kid any more. Heās got to be worth a shot.
Itās not like playing him is going to cost us a win at this point, but Iām not fussed if he doesnāt get a game. Had really high hopes for both the twins when we drafted them, shame they werenāt able to progress.
I think if they are going to give guys like a Lual a game off zero form and letās be honest this year is cactus we may aswell try as may of these guys for a run to make accurate calls on their futures
There are a heap of players that HAVE to be listed at seasonās end because we are effectively 4 in excess since the MSD and also need places for the minimum of 3 in the draft, and thatās without trading ins.
So time to be ruthless and axe those who have shown bugger all in a couple of seasons. A token semi decent game at the back end of this season shouldnāt make any difference to what should be easy list management decisions.
Goodbye ADJ and Tsatas.
i think adj has the speed and skills we are looking for, heās a good kick and he may well become an Andrew Lovett type of player, got to either keep him on for 2026 or play him til the end of the year and make the call after that.
I actually donāt think his kicking is that great. But his decision making with ball in hand is excellent, often he canāt execute the kick which tends to drop short.
I find it pretty odd that he hasnāt been trialed anywhere else in his 3 years at the club. IMO has just been set up to fail.
He has a good footballing IQ. He just needs to work harder and commit to the contest.
Whatās more, ADJ is a player who can actually benefit from the spread, speed and more angles at AFL level - as Lual had shown himself to be.
Lual works his arse off, though, to be in the right places to make use of that benefit, as much as possible over four quarters. ADJ, if given another chance, needs to show the same.
