#34 Kyle Hardingham

He's bagged to much. Far from the perfect footballer, but he's great mark and can be a headache in the forward line. Thought he should have played as a third tall more this year. Felt we needed him against North.
Probably should have picked up Barlow though.

We needed the guy who'd played that role all year. That's the one that sticks out for mine, not picking Ambrose.

Yeah, I'm still perplexed by that one.

Dont rate Barlow, watch the hawks/power light him up in the next few weeks. Will be found out.

Worried about being too tall, with Bellcho in. I'm still not sure if it was the right or wrong call but we definitely missed him. Not where the game was lost anyway.

Who remembers Ted Richards??

This kind of forward thinking will make you king, no doubt.

More a headache for us than the opposition, though.

I thought he had a pretty decent season in the backline 2013.  I'm ambivellent if he stays or goes - has value for us as depth/pinch-hitiing specialist roles, but equally probably has some currency as a trade now.

I think he has enough tricks up his sleeve to make it to another club.

He’s a pretty decent shutdown small defender, it’s just that bags is better.

I hope he manages to get a chance elsewhere, but there is no real point us keeping him

Make it to another club, yes. Make it at another club? Hmm.

He's probably the worst kick on our list or at least in the bottom couple.

I think he has enough tricks to get another year at a bottom four club. Beyond that, nah.

The one great tool he has is his leap. Was great as a defender coming up third man in a contest and killing the contest.

His foot skills and decision making are quite frankly not good for AFL football.

As a shutdown defender, he was average.

Was a terrible forward. Never seen a player run under the flight of the ball so often, and provides very little defensive pressure

I think he will get on another list as a defender, not sure he will get more than 4-5 games though.

He's probably the worst kick on our list or at least in the bottom couple.

Except - for some bizarre reason - When he's having a set shot at goal. His set shots this year were strangely accurate.
I think he could carve out a few more games elsewhere as a small defender. Nowhere good, but I reckon he's got a few more AFL pay days left.

His kicking is slightly underrated. It's pretty bad, but it's his footy smarts and decision making that are his worst attribute, those brain explosions are just baffling. Sadly, they are the only thing more difficult to fix than kicking...

I thought we were right to drop Ambrose, because our main problem against North was lack of pace.

Ambrose is slow.

Another reason making Demsey sub was quite silly.

We got shaded in 3 or 4 areas IMHO.

1) Where North ultimately won the game was creaming us in the clearances after half time - Gibson Cunnington Greenwood were their best IMHO, redoubled their efforts. Watson Heppell et al faded. I don't know we had any other options but I do laugh at people using this game as a reason to cut Howlett - we need another option or two like him!

2) 2nd/3rd option up forward. Ambrose would've helped separate one or both of Thompson/Grima, who had a fair bit of freedom to get over. Bellcho didn't really give us enough to make up for it.

3) And yes, pace as well. Winders very poor, Stanton was at half pace, Colyer very very good, Merrett was thereabouts but not as clean as usual, and we got nothing at all out of the Gleeson/Dempsey position. Demps did nothing when he was brought on - if he came on and torched it, I could see your POV but he was awful, and he came into the game when we were still very much alive, although getting done at the coal face.

They got nothing out of speedsters Atley or Turner, although Wells was very good (getting fed silver service) & Wright (not super quick, but a good mover) had a very good second half. Their setups & positioning was very good, always giving their guys under pressure an easy option. Pace of ball movement or actual leg speed?

I really liked Hardy, good luck to him.

He was a really nice bloke, too. He came down to our junior footy club a couple of years back. Was showing kids how to hold the ball and kick, showing the "love heart" shape between thumbs and forefingers, etc. He turned to one of the dads (me, 5 m away) and went to demo a kick - it landed 1 m short. I kicked it back to him at his chest, and he said to the kids "do it like that, not like I did" while laughing at himself. True story. Posed with endless kids for photos and signed stuff after training, was very patient, and couldn't have been a nicer bloke.

I think his kicking was better this year (slotted some great goals in one game), but while you can learn how to kick you can't learn how to see where to kick to nearly as much. Would have been a great footballer in the 70s/80s. Loved that feeling of him being around the fall of a high ball - has some serious x-factor, some serious weapons and some serious deficiencies. Not a robot like so many. Really hope he gets a go elsewhere.

I had a kick with the kid next door yesterday hes only about 8 or 10 but I was shanking more kicks than him.

Hardinhams problem this year was he couldnt get involved in the play if he wasnt marking it. And fell out of favour with the coaches it seemed as they were more interested to play fantasia than give hardy another crack. going back to 2012 i used to love his spoiling in defence.

I really liked Hardy, good luck to him.

Love it.... Couldn't hit a target at a junior clinic from 5m away! A current day Michael Symons!

Next person to cite that he’s had enough of the ‘supplements saga’. Had enough of this crap!!

You've had enough? How do you think the players feel
