Well that is not as pessimistic as view as could be taken. Sometimes it seems that an EFC finals win won’t come before the heat death of the Universe. (And certainly won’t come after!).
So we have a good view on him yet? VFL reports seem a bit up and down?
From the couch:
he moves well and is an athletic type.
He drifts in and out of the game a lot. I reckon he needs to work hard on his tank, and needs more confidence.
Can have tidy skills, but not all the time.
Definitely something to work with, however will take some time to develop. I reckon this time next year we will have a better assessment.
Time will tell.

From my eye his biggest issue is his composure under pressure and as a result his disposal. He rushes his kicks and passes under his percieved pressure, and has struggled a little to adapt to the pace of the game. From what I can see he has made slow improvement throughout the year in that regard. He also gets caught out of position too often and it happened a lot in the first few months of the year but getting a bit better, and his defensive work is just OK without being outstanding. He does also disappear in games, strong first quarters are often followed by half a dozen disposals for the next three.
He has pace and agility going for him, but hasn’t been able to use his attacking flair enough to have an impact, which is likely why he struggles to get in the bests for the VFL team. He’s not in contention for a game this year but if he makes inroads he has the fundamentals in his game to be a good player one day.

He is also just a very young kid who needs to be nurtured.

Will need a bid preseason to give himself confidence, his issue will be that we will likely be looking to add depth to the HB line and wing which might see him slip too far back in the pecking order to get another contract.
He might get unlucky this year, but it that will come down to perceived effort offield and character based questions

He is still on his first contract. He would have to be pretty bloody dismal not to get a new contract. I look forward to him having a decent career at Essendon.

Tew Jiath debuting this week. He was the player I wanted at the pick we used on Lual, funnily enough both sudanese players. I was spewing the Pies took him two picks ahead of ours. Was glad we picked Lual though, plays the same position if a bit smaller. But disappointed hearing Lual is struggling, especially with Tew playing tomorrow.

I wouldn’t be suprised if Lual will be a late in for this weekend, given his boyhood dream fulfilment and then delisted next week.

I’m flabbergasted at the fact he’s been named in the emergencies and El-Hawli hasn’t been. This is his last 4 weeks of footy that has led to him being named as an emergency:
v Sandringham - 0.1 8 disposals, 2 tackles
v Preston - 0.0 11 disposals, 0 tackles
v Gold Coast - 0.0 8 disposals, 0 tackles
v Coburg - 2.1 12 disposals, 2 tackles
Should be nowhere near it. OK it’s his first year on the list, but Lual is odds on to be cut at the end of 2025. I don’t hold out much hope with him, like a few players on our list he seems to not like the physical contest, and he doesn’t get involved enough. And that’s just at VFL level. It’s not like Tsatas who shows he’s a class above that level of footy but has a glaring deficiency that needs to be worked on before he’s ready for the AFL.

I’m guessing it’s a case of an emergency having absolutely zero chance of getting the game, so may as well pick a name out of a hat.
