#35 Matt Guelfi - now til 2024!

Both Guelfi and Snelling are good pressure forwards but while both are very serviceable we do need an upgrade on both.

Hope Guelf pulls up ok

Stayed down after tackles and bumps quiet a few times tonight

Zoolander

Since this article, we have lost 5 of the last 6 games, including our worst games, If by more consistent, heā€™s referring consistently ā– ā– ā– ā– , then he is correct!

Guelf is a limited footballer skills wise. His best attribute is his desperation and 1% efforts which as vital to a team like ours that has historically been very soft.
He plays a game style that requires him to be on the edge to be most effective, which he was last year hence the high B&F finish.
In the past this has been when his spot in the team is not assured and he has had to grind for every loose ball and chase down lost causes.
Post bye he seems to be very comfortable in the side and thus his desperation and effort has reduced.
We need him back to his desperate best, otherwise iā€™d rather have a more highly skilled player in his spot developing.
Maybe dropping him may be the key to getting the best out of him.

He has lost the manic pressure he had this year. I think Menzie has shown more of that kind of pressure this year. Problem is all our small forwards are in the wrong spots. Too far up the ground when the ball is kicked in. Should hunt in pairs: 2MP and Guelfi, Langford and Menzie.

20 pressure acts for Guelf vs 22 for Menzie last week

Isnā€™t he a Perf boy? Straight swap for Oscar.

When you miss easy goals like that -hack comes to mind

I always liked him but has been ordinary this year. Isnā€™t dangerous at all, would prefer tippa.

Whatā€™s happened to him? Heā€™s not a patch on the player we saw last year. He has to be playing with something. He canā€™t be this bad.

Yep, pay him out - same with Stewart.

Last year he played with desperation and did the unselfish team things. This year he is a show pony who isnā€™t. He spent half the pre game warmup trying Hollywood snaps and checksides

Drop this jobber

People will get mad and bring up the fact he finished top 3 in our best and fairest but if we are serious as a club (which is questionable at best) weā€™re moving past small forwards like Guelfi

Missed about half the year with that injury, and he seems to be playing differently to last year. I reckon he stays off the contest a lot, where heā€™d typically go in hard. So heā€™s a lot less involved physically. No idea whatā€™s driving that.

Injury makes sense. So heā€™s not playing to his strengths to play his role? If so, thereā€™s no spot for him.
