Anyway, Guelfi doesn’t seem to be cracking into anyone’s 2025 best 22s (posters and media orgs).
But he got a two year deal. Interesting to see where things are at this time next year with a year to run.
Reckon he snuck in a deal before Dodoro left.

I think he gets some pretty rough treatment on here, clearly our best pressure forward and provided he is fit he is a lock in our best 22 for mine. Injuries aside, he has been a consistent performer since moving forward. If Kako can offer similar defensive efforts and we go in a bit smaller, we just might be able to execute that forward half game we have been hoping for.

Think guelfi would be the perfect foil for kako. If kako can be our version of charlie cameron or izak rankine then that’d be great. Even those guys play with defensive type small forwards that do the hard work whilst the stars go to work. Guelfi for me is that defensive type small forward that every team needs, not the star player but does his job. The criticism on here can be pretty harsh towards guelfi.

Guelfi, Kako and Gresham are locks in our forward line you would think.
Need to get more out of Gresham though, otherwise you swap him out for Davey or another resting mid/HF like Perkins.

Not sure that Guelfi and Gresham are locks, I think theeir selection should be based on form. Kako we will have to wait and see, i am very optimistic though.

Guelfi is 100% a lock. He gets out the back and kicks a few and applies great pressure.

One thing that stood out to me this season about Guelfi were his clean hands in linking plays. It was clean one touch receives and hand offs that tyoically hit their targets.
While his defensive efforts are still a key part of his game I feel he’s changed his approach a bit and is less freentic about it and he seems to pick when to go in or stay back. Not sure if that’s him or the coaches have asked him to play like that.
Injuries have been frustrating, so hopefullly he gets a good run at it as he’s a more rounded player who gives 100%.

There is a lot of dislike if not downright hatred of Guelfi on this site at times. He is never gonna be a brownlow medallist, but he is absolutely a lock in the 22. He is probably the only player in the side that is fully prepared to sacrifice his game entirely for the team objective. Add to that, he is nearly always clean with his disposal, is frenetic in defence and is a decent kick for goal. When fit, which barring last year he mostly is, he is by far our best credentialled small forward based on output, yet alone a defensive small forward. Not every player can be a superstar, but not every player can be the team player that Guelfi is either. It takes all sorts to be a competitive team and there are a raft of players I would drop before him. Cox, Wright, Gresham, Perkins, MCkay, Jones, Laverde and McGrath (not including those that have retired been delisted) that I would drop before him if it was based on output.

Top teams have role players where they are not superstars but play their bit for the team.
Gulfie is one of those.

Got me beat how Gresham is the one that people want out despite the fact he lead our team for goal assists was seventh for score involvements, and sixth for inside fifties also kicked the most goals from a small forward for us in three years
Was also third in scoring shots but accuracy let him down.

My observation is he does his best work between forward 50 and the centre. He does not natural crumbing ability, although he is strong overhead. I can see Kako spending more time in the forward 50.

Those jobs he did on Sicily and Whitfield were impressive, stopping them and hitting the scoreboard, we a way towards us winning some matches. did Brad rush him back? he was having a good season up until injury.
Don’t you praise a players defensive work when they are unable to do the offensive stuff. You gotta be able to do they good stuff first, then the defensive stuff can be worked on. I think I will be getting Blitzers offside today, good for the site though.
