I was pretty happy with how he hit the scoreboard this year.
Averaged over a goal a game.
Didn’t score a goal in his last 3 games though.
I agree he is OK, that is it. I want the side to improve and this means OK is not good enough, we just gotta get better players to replace the OK ones if we want to win finals.
I still rate him in the top 23.
handy small forward, plus is pretty good at the sub role.
If he is not performing, happy to flick him. but he has just came into the 100+ game club so should be a solid contributor.
or alternatively some may say another player not quite good enough to take us to next level, stealing valuable experience from younger players and keeping us out of getting good picks.
In 2026 maybe someone else goes past him - Davey, Day-Wicks or Unwin
He averaged the same number of goal asists as Guelfi, while averaging less goals, behinds and score involvements. And if talking totals, he only kicked four more goals than Guelfi did this year while playing 9 more games. Also consider that Guelfi was injured in two of the games he played. Additionally, he kicked two more goals than Guelfi did in 2022, but played two more games and Guelfi didn’t even play as a defensive forward most of that year. And sure, he had a lot of inside 50’s this year. But isn’t his job as a small forward to be inside 50 where the ball is landing, not outside 50 kicking the ball in? Gresham has more flash, Guelfi is more effective.
Unless as been stated many times in here that Gresham was used to play higher up the ground and deliver it inside 50 which is what resulted in leading the team in goal assists and therefor also brought down his numbers as a small forward.
THis i can believe as from what I observe he is a average forward pocket front and square crumber, and I think I am being generous.
I currently have him just in the starting 22 as I’m keen for 3 smalls (Guelfi/Kako/Gresham) but he’s also not a ‘rush him straight back in for a dead rubber match after 4-5 weeks off with injury’ player, which is what happened against Bris in the final round.
(Where he then got re-injured again)
I could see a scenario where if a young guy like unwin could get a game as a pressure small forward he might not get back into the side
Funny world the AFL now.
Forwards are judged on their defensive actions and defenders are judged on their attacking abilities.
Agree. And they start attacks for their teams and will try to do this in the arc between the middle and forward 50.
Damn, did his hammy in the last training session. Poor bugger is really struggling with soft tissue injuries.
Fantasia 2.0
We have to move past him. I hope he is no longer best 22/23 by the end of 2025. That will mean 1) that Kako is well and truly as good as advertised, and 2) that Davey and/or Menzie look like something approaching AFL standard footballers. That is probably pie in the sky, but we need one of those boys to at least give us something next year.
When you have the litany of soft tissue injuries as Guelf does, it can’t just be “bad luck”. Maybe he isn’t the most professional in terms of taking care of his body?
They’re both junk, need to find someone better
Another player that should have been traded out at years end.
I agree and there is a 99% chance they are both junk. But it would be a welcome bonus is one of them emerges as simply a decent role player. Fingers crossed… ![]()
Iam hundred percent of the belief that he doesn’t present in the best nick because he likes the off season lifestyle too much.
Always seems to be with the young guys at festivals and enjoying the night life, hanging with Ginni was also an eyebrow raiser.
I am surprised EFC did not send Guelfi to Qatar with Reid and Ridey. They should have also sent parish.
Is Parish injured again?
Ginny hangs with Ginny 100% of the time and doesn’t pull hamstrings every 5 seconds.
