#35 - Matt Guelfi - now til 2026!

Not all. Definitely not all

Disagree. Think he 100% entirely lived up to his potential. He’s a good role player. He was never going to be anything more than that.

And had Stewart the week before

I think playing consistently, and consistently injury free, he’d be rated higher. On Thursday a Carlton fan was disparaging him saying his goals were a third of his total for the season. You’re never getting rated when you only play half the games, kick 10 or so goals and shut down a few good players. Play multiple full seasons with 15-30 goals and multiple shut down jobs and you’ll be rated very differently.

I couldn’t care less how a Fark Cartlon or any other person rates him. My comment had nothing to do with how he is rated.

Oh I agree his ceiling was never high, just that injuries have stopped him reaching it. A good defensive forward is the definition of a ā€œroleā€ player.

Guelfi doing everything wrong so far with his 5 ineffectual disposals.

And calf injury.

Would genuinely pay out his last year after that pitiful performance….finishing in a classic Guelfi soft tissue it seems.

I’m just an internet forum nuffy but Guelf seems like one of the main ā€œpoor standardsā€ operator. Loves what comes with being an AFL player.

The old Geulfi corked calf hey? Cant stop getting corkies in the calf. Poor bugger is well and truly cooked.

He was almost invisible last night, l had to look twice to make sure it was him. He usy plays with some physical presence, but was a complete non factor.

Aside from a couple of them having a dip, most were invisible.

Iam probably reading into more than it needs to be but it felt like weird timing last night that sub.

He got a stray scratch to the face and went down like he was shot then subbed for a cork and seemed to be walking around fine afterwards I didn’t see him with ice on it

I don’t know what was up with him, but before being injured it was one of his worst games I’ve seen. Not alone in that though…

He’s just not that good

Disagree, I think Guelfi is a good role player. He can play the defensive fwd role well and is smart around goal. He’s one of our better tacklers / pressure players. His issue in recent years is availability, like 50% of the list.

Pay him out and delist

is just a jobber. Only plays a few good games a year. Injuries are starting to pile up. And I have big question marks over how much work he puts in off the field in the gym. He has been in the system for a long time, and still looks very skinny

Pay him out? Interesting take. I guess if we’re going complete scorched earth policy it’s an option.

I like what he brings to the forward line, but ultimately it isn’t enough. For us to take steps forward, we need to move past Guelfi, and l say this as a fan of his. He can’t contribute to progress if he spends half his games sitting in the stands.

Yep, burn it all down and start again
