#36 - Angus Clarke

What’s this kids turnover numbers the past few weeks? He has great effort, but his decision making is a bit of a concern.

Kids just started. Give him a chance to get up to the speed of the AFL game.

I saw Clark going out for breakfast this morning and an umpire appeared out of nowhere and pinged him for holding the ball.

And in this team….

Seems to telegraph his kicks a bit and take a while getting them onto his boot which leaves him open to smothers. Also can sometimes wheel and launch without looking where the kick is going (Dylan Shiel probably taught him that).

Otherwise, is ace. Loved his play in the fourth. Kicked in, ran, received the handball and then hit up Smartt i50. We never do that stuff.

Not sure about over hyped but he’s a great story in a tough season for the club. Three goals in his first game is a pretty fair start and he is someone who is more than comfortable sharing his laconic country charm with the media. Absolute gold for the club and the fans with comparisons to Terry Daniher already!. Rising Star nominations aren’t given out for nothing so there’s certainly something to work on however he is still a skinny 18 year old playing against seasoned men each week. Very tough gig.

I want him playing in the forward line.

Definitely has a good set of hands so why not try it

He really should model his game on Dempsey from the Cats - can run up and down but with his marking capability drifting forwards behind the big forward should be his go next year.

Good shout. Important to remember Dempsey won the rising star as a 3rd year player aged 21. So Clarke is showing his quality earlier in the piece.

I loved the way how he copped that high hit from Callaghan even when the game was over he was like ‘nah f that I’m not gonna cop that’ and started a scrap. Think we’ve been missing that attitude for a while.

Bloke will eventually be within the top 50 players in the comp. Has all the assets.

Yep between Clarke and Roberts we have 2 players who aren’t going to take a backwards step. Think May has similar attributes as well.

Glad we’ve got him

pommy has actually done a pretty decent breakdown of his game here

Please don’t make me like Pommy! But a good analysis.

Hes already won me over. Besides the fark carlton support, he seems like a really decent dude. hes been really supportive of other content creators on youtube for all clubs. Very fair and objective with his analysis.

And yeah, his video on Clarke is great. Looks like a genuine utility that can go forward or back and have an impact. Looking forward to when he gets some more muscle on his bones.

TBH he, ADW and Johnson have achieved what you’d want them to achieve this year.

Come in, shown enough to show us they could make it, show themselves they can belong, but also make it clear how much work they have to do and ensure they attack pre season with a vengeance.

I’d almost like to see Nguyen and Gerreyn get a run just for that reason, but maybe the KPF spots are better spent on May and McMahon

This just outlines why Ridley, McGrath and co suck. Not willing to take the risky kick forward and run hard if it doesn’t work out. Clarke, Johnson & Roberts can really turn our whole structure around.
