I don’t disagree except that under the AFL rules you still to pay the minimum salary cap. So we were going to reward yet another middling player.
The AFL list size and salary cap mechanism should be adjusted. There should be no list size limits meaning a club in a situation like us should be able to load up on numbers in terms of kids to
fill the salary cap. Then as success comes your list size can be trimmed back to accommodate fewer players and paying higher wages.

I agree with all of that, but I’d prefer to overpay Caddy or Roberts and take a kid than bring in Fiorini.

or could have just kept Setterfield on the list, then added a SSP when Nick Martin got injured.
It kind of does show Scott/Rosa trying to address the leadership void on the list.
He can still offer some use to the list if he develops a bit of flexibility to fill gaps half back, half forward, wing. Still an extremely perplexing acquisition and the contract a big overpay.
What with this being Essendon, we’re only at full strength on paper for about 1 nanosecond per year.
