His kicking is atrocious. This doesn’t make him a bad player, but come on.
Effective Disposal Percentage: #11 in the team, at 75.3%
Tippa #12 on the list with 75%
Heppel #27 on the list with 69%
Dylan Shiel: #29 on the list with 66%
Kicking action not good. However he is actually one of the better players in terms of effective disposals
There is a difference between a kick and a disposal, and also what constitutes an ‘effective disposal’.
An ‘effective kick’ is quite literally a kick over 40 metres to a contest.
He’s not a good kick.
Obviously raw stats don’t tell the whole story but there isn’t a huge difference between our mids.
Kicking Efficiency:
Clarke 56%
Guelfi 56%
Parish 62%
Heppell 57%
Langford 65%
Merrett 57%
Shiel 54%
I see what you did there.
He’s a gun I tell you
I think he has an ugly awkward kicking action. But his kicks usually find a teammate
I think he kicks within his limitations, but they are there. That’s fine anyway it’s not his job.
Kicking within your limitations is the key to a footballer understanding their game. The fact Dylan does this is a great sign. Historically lots of super footballers have done this - think of someone like Greg Williams.
You think Clarke is bad? As has often been lamented on this forum over the years Dangerfield is one of the worst kicks in the comp. When kicking for goal on the run, he has a 9% success rate.
Yes, the Brownlow Medalist, the exalted Patrick Dangerfield sprays it 9 times out of 10.
The other morning David King confronted Whately with this stat. Whately said nothing, and went to an ad break. LOL.
Next day this fact was sprinkled through the papers. The fact known to many on this Forum is now out for all to see.
The good thing about kicking to a man is the man can move if the ball is a bit off. When kicking for goal, the posts do not move, unless there is a Rampe on one of them.
Its all about knowing your limitations. Dangerfield clearly does not know his.
Agree. Kicking within his limitations is spot on( perfect way too put it)
That’s another reason why I love Ambrose, when he kicks doesn’t try to be fancy- just keeps it basic
Now just need the other Clarke to be signed on again!
Clarke knows what he can and cannot pull off. He’ll never do a Francis style inboard kick. He can do some awesome passes, but he takes a moment and very carefully places the ball on his boot. He can’t do a Zach Merrett lightning fast elite kick, it takes a second longer. But he knows this, I’ve rarely seen him tackled while kicking because he makes sure he has the space before setting himself for the kick. If he doesn’t have space, he’ll handball or do a quick pass to an easy option.
Who was he playing on?
For a midfielder to get the lowest possessions in the game other than an injured bloke isn’t real flash. 3 Collingwood mids got over 30 so if he was hard tagging it wasn’t effective.
Bulldogs game and this one have been stinky.
Hope he’s just tired after a big season.
Lost his mojo. Wasn’t given a job in the first half because Woosha wasn’t playing his cards.
Second half on Pendles.
Was a disappointing game. Reckon he cost himself the elimination final.
He was running with Pendlebury for a while but just couldn’t go with him. Legit forgot he was playing for a while there.
I reckon he’ll keep his spot for the final though, ahead of Begley and Jok.
Minimum 4 players come in.
Why not. Might have been ok tonight, certainly no worse than Tom. Tom tried hard just isnt ready yet
This is gold
If he’s gonna play like that, I’d rather bring Myers in because at least he offers a bit offensively. I think he’s a good prospect but he’s been really, really stinky the last two games. You’d almost have to drop him after that performance.
